  • Five things to be happy about

We haven't done this in a while and it's kind of cheesy but-

Name five things that have made you happy today:

    1) with the sale of my condo yesterday, I made more money in 15 minutes than I will this year.

    2) the guys who have been installing the new cabinets in the new house are GONE

    3) My husband is NOT going or in Iraq (at least for the moment)

    4) My new nephew is fabulous, my best friend is in labor and the social worker comes in two weeks to redo the home study

    5) My husband (except when he drives, which scares the crap out of me and I spend the entire time in crash position)

    1. My boys.....they are all three going through a really sweet stage right now and I am enjoying them so much this summer.

    2. I got to go to the gym alone today. (DH was off) I hate herding children to the car when I am hot and sweaty from working out.

    3. I took my two oldest to the neighborhood pool today and was actually able to lie in a lawnchair and sunbathe (slathered with SPF 45, of course, as befits my extreme whiteness! ) since Luke and Joel can both swim.

    4. I will only be in Wichita Falls for one more year, more or less.

    5. My husband cooked dinner.....things taste so much better (even pasta w/Prego, frozen broccoli, and garlic bread) when you don't have to cook it yourself! He is a good man.

      1. It's a beautiful day today, I took the dog for a long walk and did some gardening.

      2. I ran 3 miles on my treadmill this morning, did some sit-ups, and lifted weights for 20 minutes. Made me feel GREAT!

      3. My brother's coming to visit, I haven't seen him in a while.

      4. We're going out for Indian food for dinner ... yummy.

      5. It's a 3-day weekend so I still have 2 more days to play!! 8)

How fun - I want to play, too!

        1) At 5:00 yesterday afternoon, dh and I said, "Hey, lets go into New York for a night on the town!"... and we DID!

        2) We got to NY just as all of the "No Parking" hours were up, so we had FREE parking the WHOLE night, right by all of the places we wanted to go.

        3) We got to meet up with one of my good high school friends, who lives accross the country, but is on a trip to NY for the week. (Haven't seen her in YEARS!)

        4) Having 2 WHOLE days with hubby (he was on 'house call' but didn't have to go in at all!! In fact, he called and they gave him the okay to go into NY!)

        5) My hubby searching around NY and finding a place to go get me a bag of M&M's... my latest pregnancy craving... then coming out with 3 different varieties, just to make sure he got the one I wanted (what a sweetie!).

        Have a great 4th!

            1. My daughter! She is such a gift.

            2. All three of us went to IHOP for breakfast, then we drove to Charlottesville. And there wasn't any bickering!

            3. My friends here have offered to watch Keelin so dh and I can go out (or stay in )

            4. I'm so happy and thankful to be American. I LOVE THIS COUNTRY!

            5. Air conditioning. Thankful to have access to it, thankful we can afford it!

            Happy 4th!

                2. Both dogs are sleeping.

                3. My lemon icebox pie (recipe from the Magnolia Bakery in NYC) turned out beautifully.

                4. We have fireworks for tonight!

                5. It'll be just us--no social stuff, no FAMILY especially. Yay!!

                  1. Hubby is at the VA this month, which means he gets today (Monday) off!!!
                  2. I was scrambling to find a babysitter since I'm a little swamped with my business and now dh is taking the kids for the morning so I can get caught up!!!
                  3. Sydney went all day yesterday without peeing in her "big girl panties"!!!
                  4. Maya didn't wear a pull-up to bed last night and she woke up dry!!!
                  5. My dh and I have devised a 3 year plan for fixing up and selling our house and moving to the burbs where the schools are better. This plan just feels right to both of us and it feels great that we are finally on the same page.
                  Awake is the new sleep!

                    1. DH has today off ( although he has been sleeping most of it) and this weekend too!!

                    2. I sold some stuff i was going to give to Goodwill on Ebay and made 20 bucks!

                    3. The huge enormous pile of wood mulch that is in our driveway is almost half gone.

                    4. It is not supposed to rain all week.

                    5. DD is on hour two of her afternoon nap( she usually goes down for 45 mintues, wakes up crying and *might go back down* if we are lucky).

Boy, nothing too exciting there, but I guess it is the little things in life....

                      1) It turns out I love being engaged. I never would have guessed. I like that sense of anticipation (same reason I love Christmas Eve), and wedding planning has turned out to be way more fun than I was anticipating.

                      2) FH is on a nice little break between Step 1 and the start of clerkships. We actually got to hang out all weekend. We went for a couple very long walks, went to the movies, out to dinner. It's nice, to say the least.

                      3) After five summers of sweating, I now have an air conditioner. It's a beautiful thing. (I see Marla's feeling this one, too. )And it's definitley one of those things that now that I have it, I can't believe I went so long without it. When it's really hot out we come home, turn on the AC, and then sit right in front of it cooing over it like parents over a new baby.

                      4) Our toilet had spontaneously stopped working properly. Suddenly it took two or three flushes to get the job done. We were still debating whether it would be more hassle than it's worth to get the super working on it when one night they dug up the street in front of our building and fixed something. Our toilet has flushed like a champ ever since. I love it when a problem solves itself. And I have a new-found appreciation for properly working plumbing.

                      5) It's summer!

                        1. My sister visited for the weekend
                        2. I finally took 4 bags of give-away stuff to Goodwill
                        3. It hasn't been hot enough here to need air conditioning (which I don't have)
                        4. I will have a/c in a month, in my new apartment
                        5. I don't have to study. My free time is mine!

                          5) My inlaws came for a wonderful visit and are finally GONE!

                            1. We went on a family hiking trip to a waterfall and DH and 8 yr old son scaled the side of this rushing 100 ft torrent flanked with slime covered boulders and they both survived the experience. I was beside myself with worry and couldn't look while they were doing it, unlike a whole horde of people who stopped to see what would possess them to do such a thing, all the while mesmerized.

                            2. My vegetable garden including tomatoes, zucchini, corn, eggplant, squash, and a whole host of herbs, are thriving and producing!

                            3. My kids are playing so nicely together today - I haven't had to tell them to stop fighting once yet! knock on wood...

                            4. The kids across the street have stopped coming over on a regular basis after I finally turned them away a few times because hey, if I wanted 7 kids, I'd be having a heckuva lot more sex.

                            5. The fridge is overflowing with good leftovers and I'm not cooking tonight!

Woohoo! That's great to hear your plants are taking off.

I'm tired, but I'll bet I can come up with 5 things.

                              1. We got our first piece of forwarded mail today! Long story, for some reason our forward order didn't get processed (make that 3 forward orders). Something got straightened out and hopefully more -- 3 weeks worth 8O -- is on the way!

                              2. We now live 1.5 hrs from the beach (used to be, maybe 16 hours!) and will make a day trip some time soon.

                              3. The weather here has been absolutely beautiful.

                              4. A nieghbor told me that he would give me all of his beekeeping equipment -- free! -- so that I can start a few hives next spring.

                              5. My two little cutie pies. And the fact that one of them has summer camp next week.
