  • something fun to try

We recently attended our first minor league baseball game. It was a BLAST! (I'm not even a baseball fan). The tickets were only $4 and the entertainment was campy and quirky. (e.g. a pig running around in a tutu, a barber giving out free haircuts, karioki (sp?) challenge).

The tickets were cheaper than the matinee movies and it was a blast. We are going again this weekend to tailgate with our neighbors and their kids. My recommendation to you all is to check out the minor league team in your neck of the woods. You might become an unintentional fan!

    That sounds fun!

This is a tangent, but do your hospitals offer discounts for anything? We can get movie passes for $5.50 (as long as the movie has been out for 2 weeks).

No, DH's program does not offer discounts but my work does. We live in a city with professional sports of every different type but we have only been to two professional hockey games (drug reps) and one professional baseball game (free tickets from our neighbors). I can't believe that the average family has this type of discretionary income to spend on entertainment!

Fortunately, DH lucked into season student tickets for the U of MN hockey team for about $7 a game. Sadly, we live in a place that boasts more theater seats per capita than anywhere else in the country outside of NYC and just saw our first play after four years of living here. At $60 a pop, who can afford tickets? Although I have to say that Miss Saigon was fantastic.

That is why minor league baseball was such a find. For the cost of a take out pizza we had a whole night of entertainment for the family.

      Check it out.
