  • Summer Fun

Well it is that time again, summer is almost over, Labor Day is just a few weeks away. Does anyone have anything fun planned for August? My dh and I are taking off next week but have no plans. We will just head north because he can't take the heat!!!! We are in NJ, so will probably end up in Vermont or Maine, any suggestions?

York Beach Maine is great (long sands). It's a cute town, the beach is fun, and it's close to the outlets if you have a rainy day. Portsmouth NH is about 20 minutes away and is also a cute town.

It's about an hours drive (maybe a bit more) from Boston. The one bummer is that August is "high season" so there may not be anywhere to stay.

My grandparents have a summer cottage there right across the street from the beach. We've been going there since I was in diapers!

Tip: If you go there you have to go to "Goldenrods" and have some of their saltwater taffy...they also have homemade ice cream that is fantastic. In a different part of town (by the Nubble light) there is also "Browns" which is also an ice cream stand. It's SO GOOD and the portions are huge!
