As many of you noticed, our server was suspended for two days. Unfortunately, we have had to deal with more hacking issues. This is due to some security glitches in part of the free software program that we are using to run this site. You do not need to have any concerns about access to our database, as that is strictly protected in a separate area. No one is able to access email accounts or other data held in the database.
Unfortunately, though, people were able to login through the non-database portion and write offensive text and use the one iMSN email server for the site to send out scam/spam mail. This email address is not associated with the database, but is instead routed through the control panel which holds the website software. Apparently, the iMSN sent out thousands of letters about a south african lottery that requested personal information from people. We were reported and shut down until the matter could be investigated.
We are thankful that our server takes such prompt action, because it protects us. We're continuing to upgrade the software-side security and may be switching to a different software program in the near future.
