  • The BIG 3-0!!!

Yikes! I am officially no longer in my 20's!!! Today marks my entrance into the 30-something crowd!! How wierd! Of course dh was on call yesterday, so I won't see him until this afternoon (when he is DOG-Tired!!), but he is so sweet - we have a tradition of getting donuts and chocolate milk for birthday breakfast, and I found donuts hidden in the cupboard for when he gets back . (The chocolate milk he didn't even try to hide, just stuck it in the fridge before he left for work yesterday).

I have to give him HUGE points for actually doing this ahead of time, considering the out-of-control schedule he has had this month. (The present, he was too smart for me and just kept them in the trunk of the car so I couldn't 'snoop' around the house .) Believe me, on our budget, I know it's nothing big, but it's huge to me just to know he actually was thinking about it... (which is a big turn from our last couple weeks of stress/trauma on the couplehood front... but that's a rant for a whole different topic!!!)

It's kind of sad that it's times like this that actually keep me going through this year of *%$ that they call 'internship'! (and to think we are ONLY 3 months into it!!! ). Well, take care and have a wonderful day!!

    Jen B.

Happy Birthday Jen! That's sweet that your hubby remembered the donuts and chocolate milk. I agree, internship was the worst, but the good thing about it is that it ends. Anyway, hope it's a great day, come back and tell us how it was and what your present from your DH is!

Happy Birthday, Jen! I have loved my thirties so far (I turn 36 in November) and hope you enjoy them as much as I have!

I know what you mean about intern year.....for us, second year was actually worse, because intern year, he spent a lot of time on off-service rotations that had a much better call schedule. Once second year began and he was on the OB/GYN call schedule pretty much all the time, that was really bad. But that was before the new work hour policies went into effect, so I am sure that right now is as bad as it will get for you. 3 months may not seem like a lot at this point, but look at it this way.....it is 3 months that you will never have to go through again!

It says a lot that your hubby was able to remember and carry out your special birthday tradition, in the midst of all of the chaos and stress! Sounds like he's a keeper.

Are you starting to feel a little better? Try to do a little something for yourself todayl

Happy Birthday!!!!!! Isn't it surprising how they can come through sometimes!!!!! Especially when we really need them to.

Happy, happy birthday to you! Welcome to the 30's club! So far, so good.
mmm....chocolate milk and donuts sound yummy.
How's the morning sickness? Hope you have a great day.

Yeah, intern year just sucks. No other way around it. Hang in there, the derm stuff isn't so bad -- just lots of reading (like 1st or 2nd year) but he'll be getting a good night sleep most nights.

Happy Birthday--I hope you had a great day! The donut and milk thing sounds like a tradition I could get into--how sweet that your hubby planned in advance to keep it going despite his schedule!
