  • New York Touring Questions

My mom and sister are coming out in 3 weeks to get some 'girl' play time in the big Apple. The only problem is, I don't really know enough about it to know the fun things to do. DH and I have been there a few times, but mostly just drove around and did a 'car-tour' of the places.

Do any of you have any tips or thoughts on "do-not-miss" attractions? We are planning on a broadway, the statue of liberty, ground zero, empire state bld, etc. What are the best places to get tickets for things - should we get them ahead of time on the internet, or just buy them when we get there? Oh, we will also have my 2 year-olds with us. Thank you so much for your input and help - I am so excited!

Sounds fun. I haven't been to New York since I was a kid.....I don't have any suggestions, but I'd love to see your pics after you go on your tour!

If you don't have your heart set on any particular play, don't get tickets ahead of time. There are two TKTS booths that sell day of tickets at 20-50% off. Go to the one downtown by South Street Seaport (another great attraction), since you're planning on visiting Ground Zero nearby. I know you can get a pass that gives you a discount for all the touristy places (like empire state bldg, etc.) but I'm not sure where to buy one. I think they should be available at the first landmark you visit. I'd also advise on an unlimited MetroCard (day pass or weekly), it'll be very useful to get around. I'll have more suggestions if you can be more specific about what you find interesting/fun.
