  • Anyone hospitalists?

My husband works with hospitalists and he said their schedule for 4 of them is splitting shifts of 2pm to 8am during the Tues-Thurs and Friday, Saturday and Sunday working 24 shifts. That is only for the newborn nursery and deliveries at St V.-C. I don't know if this is typical or not.

DH used to talk a lot about being an OB hospitalist and just delivering babies all the time, which is what he loves. I always thought he would miss getting to know his patients through pre-natal visits. The job he found (and is very excited about) is one with a more typical schedule.....but I still think he could get excited about a hospitalist role if that became an option as his practice grows. 10 days off a month sounds good.....actually, Q5 call sounds good, and Q5 weekends sounds awesome......although being in-house the whole time would suck. But that is coming from someone whose spouse chose a lifestyle of sucky call.......avoid it if you can!
