Does anybody know how to get rid of them? We have the little tiny black sweet ants invading our gorgeous rental property (ahem!) in various places (primarily at the windows or by water/pipes). They don't seem to go for food areas too much...I've had decent luck with something called Terro (sp?) in the past...and I have some basic traps and the Raid spray (which I hate with a small child). Any hints/ideas would be appreciated! Thanks!

Ick, I hate ants. I have had a lot of success using those little Raid traps. They would get little piles of ants around them. (That makes me feel kinda guilty )

Did you know that your saliva on their little pathway will throw them off track? Might want to try that so they can't find their way back home to bring their buddies back.

My cousin says Baby Powder works wonders. She lives in LA and had a terrible infestation during the big rains this winter. The downside is you get little piles of baby powder all over, but at least it smells good!

      Good luck!

I don't know if this really worked or if the ants just went away...
I had ants followed a nice little path in an apartment kitchen. At least once a day, I would wash over their tracks with hot soapy water to erase the path. Seemed to work. I've also heard that Borax gets rid of them -- not sure if that is sprinkling the powder or what.

But Nellie, why wash when you can spit?

I didn't know the spittin' trick back then!
Besides, I'll bet Marla is more refined than I (.....or you.... :! ).

I think I'll try all the hints! Thanks! I just wish I could find where their stupid path starts. It's like they whistle to all their little ant buddies and say "Hey, there's a great party over here!" And then they proceed to party all day and night in OUR house!

Marla, my old tobacco-farmer friend says that nicotine kills bugs. Just take some tobacco, let it soak for a couple days in a mason jar, strain it, and spray it on the bugs.

                Might work for ants.

Eeeeew! I might rather have the bugs!
