Has anyone moved up or down the east coast (Boston to DC)?? What moving company did you use? I've never moved long distance, ok well except to China but I didn't need a moving truck for that. Who knew moving was so expensive!

I suggest taking a look at the message board on movingscam.com. It's fairly easy to find other people who have made a similar move and what their experience was and you can also post your move needs and get some good suggestions.

Good luck! Moving is expensive!! We used ABF (http://www.upack.com) for our recent move and were happy with how it worked. Not much more money than a UHaul and a whole lot easier.

We've moved down from Boston to New Haven to Richmond. Company paid for the B to NH move, and we've done the others ourselves.

Your average 3 bedroom house is going to run you $3-$6 k...at least that's what it would cost to move from Richmond to Madison, WI.

Dont' forget to figure in the tip for the movers if you go that route.

I'm trying to remember the tip but it was more than I expected. I think it was like $20 per guy? And that might have been on the cheap side.
There is another company like ABF that I can't remember the name of. You can find it on the movingscam.com website. Maybe they will do it. Boston to DC seems far enough to me!

I'm in a similar situation but reverse DC to Boston...I'll let you know what I find...if I ever get around to actually booking the move!
