Ok, it's time for an end to the excuses....I have to go to Trader Joe's! I've been here for a year and still haven't made it (all of them are a good 5 minutes past other stores).
You've inspired me!
Oh, I'll sing the chorus in the Ode to Trader Joe's.
If they have the rock shrimp in the forzen food sections, GET THEM. The wines are awesome, too. The TJ's in Palmdale, CA had fabulous beer selections, too. The one in Alexandria, VA is really cramped so we go to the one in Gaithersburg, MD (no booze tho) or the one in Bailey's Crossroads, VA.
The only thing is that the veggies aren't always that great. But I try to buy my veggies at the Farmer's markets anyway.
YES! Trader Joe's rocks!!! We would starve if it weren't for them!
When we moved to Chicago they had put the first one in the north suburbs. Just as we were about to move out of the city for residency a TJ'S was supposed to go up in Lakeview.
Luckily, I have one right down the street from me now and it makes me very happy! I LOVE Whole Foods too and go there for occasional things I can't get elsewhere.
Traffic in Chicago? It's suffocating! My commute to my first job there, a mere 20 miles, used to take me upwards of 2 hours ONE WAY!
I can't even imagine that with a toddler. Soooo sorry!
I love TJ's, too! We had one right down the street from us in CA, but there aren't any here in North Carolina. Oh, how I miss their sea salt & cracked pepper soy crisps! Yummmmmm..........
I miss them SOOOOOOOOOOO much! Unfortunately we don't have one, we had one in great distance when we lived in CA. I wish they would expand to Rochester.
Wife to NSG out of training, mom to 2, 10 & 8, and a beagle with wings.
I LOVE trader joe's and I'm moving away from the one I just got a year ago! I lived in Pasadena for a time (the birthplace of good 'ol TJ), and fell in love, and lobbied HARD for one in Cleveland (down to suggesting locations & making everyone in my department at work complete the zip code survey online). Now they've come to muhammed and muhammed is moving again!
I say we start an IMSN / TJ support link and everyone can take turns shipping orders to those of us who live out the area (TJ refuses to ship!).
As if I wasn't emotional enough in this last week before the move .... wahhhhhhhhhh!
anyone with paypal, I'd be happy to spend your money at TJs and ship straight-away!
As long as the favor is returned when we move next year!
Jenn
I'm just sick enough that I might just take you up on that. I love their cereal, the kids love their apple bars, and fruit leathers are a gift from God (for the kids). The frozen section is a thing of beauty, the nuts are totally reasonably priced, and the pita chips are better than anyone elses! I even love their hand soap, and when we had a dog, he loved their "nutter butter-like" treats.
I love my TJs!! I was soooo happy to find them here in Cleveland. (Thanks for setting that up for me Jenn! )Not down the street anymore like they were in Boston -- but only a ten minute drive away. I'd ship for you OR we could just help you in your campaign. Let us know what we need to do to get that KC TJs opened. Maybe you could run it!! (Clearly it's a great business.)

I would think KC would be a great market for one, you might have to start all your hard work all over again!
I've already started. Maybe those of us who want TJ's in our area could take turns posting zip codes on IMSN and having everyone go fill out their zip code survey online!
I made my last trip today before the move. I spent $53 (did I mention anywhere else how broke I am?) on fruit leathers, veggie sticks, soy milk drink boxes, juice boxes, cereal bars, and pita chips for the drive to KC. I'm a nut.
