A nice job perk

  • A nice job perk

My neighbor's spouse works for a well-known pharmaceutical company in town. He travels a lot for business. This company reimburses its family's babysitters/child care when the employee is out-of-town on business up to $10/hr. My friend can go out to dinner, pay a babysitter $8/hr and pocket the rest for herself!

I think that should be a benefit for all individuals in medical training.

Wow...and we wonder why prescription drugs are so expensive. The whole pharm company thing baffles me. Imagine how much less expensive the drugs would be if independent organizations simply published research data about the safety/efficacy of the drugs and we wern't also having to pay for the cost of phar reps going out to push their products on docs?

My dh has turned down invitations to be a part of a 'seminars' that would have paid out big bucks...he basically would be invited to attend and discuss and then have a check cut for $2000-5000

He's evil..he makes drug reps make appointments with the scheduler :>

    It's crazy.

That's a nice job perk! I used to work for a recruiter and we recruited pharm and medical sales reps. You wouldn't believe their salaries, bonuses, and all of the little job perks....huge sign-on bonuses, company car, car insurance paid for, incentive trips to exotic locales..... One of our candidates got a job selling some kind of capital equipment and he made well over $350k in commissions during his first year. Hmmmm....no wonder why the elderly have a hard time paying their prescription bills.....

Gosh, I only wish I was a good salesperson!!

That sounds great... but is that ethical? The phrase is "up to", which to me implies using less if you need less. If the company is ever in trouble, that little detail might become a problem. I've heard of people losing their jobs over things like that...
