Matt's indentured servitude is OVER!!!! := (I used to call it slavery but slaves don't receive any monetary compensation. )
We survived the move to Boise, I survived my in-laws, and going back to Seattle and camping out in an empty apartment with two children.
Great things-
1. Only two things broke in the move, and they weren't anything that had emotional value.
2. We went to Matt's graduation dinner and glad we did- he was named Resident of the Year from his graduating class along with another resident. Matt didn't expect it. I am proud of him.
Problems we encountered-
1. no phone service when Qwest said we would get it. Supposedly the order to have our service set-up wasn't done until 7 pm, come to find out the "problem" was with the line. Qwest sent a maintenance person out to find out why the phone wasn't working. We found out the previous home owner wired the telephone jacks himself. We had requested that he finish a jack. Well he took a bunch of wires and spliced them together, malfunctioning the entire phone system in the house. Luckily the Qwest guy didn't charge us to fix all 9 phone jacks in the house, because Matt is from WY.
2. The in-laws: They make no plans. In short, I have to have some type of plan even loose based as I have 2 children, one of which is still napping. If he doesn't get his nap well he looks like this- and well I am the one that has to deal with him not my in-laws. Anyway, I think in one conversation to Matt I made the comment- "Your parents have wings on their butts." This had to deal with that they didn't think they needed to rent a car when in our car we have room for 1 additional person, and there were 3 additional people; and the hotel was 15 minutes away. Flynn will get a good laugh out of this- due to the car situation they wanted to take the bus from Lynnwood to Downtown Seattle (the Waterfront). Ummm that's a 90 min bus ride one way. I finally gave up and said take our car, I will stay at the hotel with the kids and try and find some lunch within walking distance. My MIL stayed and suggested we go to Chucky Cheeses. :| Glad when that day was over....
The other issue- when we got the house after driving for 9 hours, they wanted to get EVERYTHING unpacked for us. Well we moved from a 1000 sq ft. apartment to a 3700 sq ft house. Ummm they expected me to know where I wanted all of our crap that instant. My mil made a comment- "Well I have changed my kitchen around at least 5 times." I thought to myself- "Good for you, I am not you, and I like to get things a certain way and leave them." 8)
Things keep "popping up" with the house, and I think to myself- "Welcome to the world of home ownership"- we have an ant problem in the garage, we found out last night we are going to have to redo the front lawn sprinkler system (all thanks to the build-it-yourself previous owner).
All in all I am really excited about our new home, and Matt's new job. Matt doesn't officially start until July 11th, but he has already worked two days in the OR. During those days he was home by 2 pm. Again I will let you know in September what I think. He doesn't have any overnight call for his first month, and will have his first week of vacation in August. They have also paired him up with a "mentor" for his first year.
Matt takes the boards next week, and it will be about 6 months before we get the results.
My pregnancy seems to be progressing fine. I hadn't had problems with spotting for about one week prior to the move, and was told by my previous OB to stay on pelvic rest until it had been 2 weeks. Well with the stress of the move, and unpacking it started back up the Saturday of the in-laws wanting to unpack the entire house. I am almost 2 weeks out and so far no sign of any spotting. Starting to feel the little tyke move. I will be on the hunt for an OB this week as I need to get in the next couple of weeks for a check-up. It's wierd to think that we will find out what we are having this month.
Well wanted to let you know we survived. There seems to be a light at the end of the tunnel......
