  • Speaking of pets.....

We got two cats over the weekend. I had seen a kitten on http://www.petfinder.com from a local shelter, and on Friday, we all went to get it. The shelter had an adoption fee that they wanted paid in CASH, so DH left me there with the kitten while he went to get cash. Fatal mistake. I walked around with the kitten, and saw a long-haired Siamese mix female that I fell in love with. I showed her to DH when he came back with the money, and he said we could think about it.

The kitten, Leo, is and orange and white medium hair kitten who is about 10 weeks old, and he is totally cute. However, on Saturday morning, DH and I agreed that he needed a friend, so I went back to the shelter to get Camille (the shelter had already named both cats). Camille is white and tan/brown with medium long hair and blue eyes. The shelter estimated that she was about 2 years old. I brought her home, and introduced her to Leo. Things seemed to be going well, although Camille was not really warming up to Leo like I had hoped.

Fast forward to last night. I was enjoying some "alone time" with Camille and was petting her and getting to know her without the company of my boys. She rolled over and showed me her tummy (which is all white) so I leaned in close to check for any evidence of fleas. All of a sudden, OUT POPS A PENIS! I was so startled! I jumped back and said "OH, you're not Camille!" and then laughed my head off. I went to find DH, who didn't believe me at first, but then proved it for himself. We both were cracking up, thinking of how we have been talking to this cat, thinking it was a girl. After a trip to the vet this morning, it was confirmed that Camille is indeed a neutered male, and is now called Rex. Oh, and my 2 year old female cat is now a 5 year old male.

The weirdest part is that this is the SECOND time this has happened to me. We adopted a stray in San Antonio, and the vet identified it as a female. We picked out a name and took it in to get spayed. After the incision had been made the vet realized that the kitty was a neutered male. Poor cat. I guess I need to learn to tell the difference for myself before I ever adopt another stray.

And the moral of the story is......I am destined to be surrounded by males. If I can ever figure out how to post a picture, I will post one of the new "men" in my life.

Hillarious! All that education and they can't .... oh, nevermind.

While we were bonding with our new pup (Bruce) before adopting him, DH suggested that we take both he & his brother home. I nixed that in the bud, explaining that I already spend my days with brothers that work together against me.

What you guys don't know is that Sally sent us kitty lovers pictures over the weekend and those "boys" are gorgeous. Nearly as handsome as Sally's 2 legged boys.

Ok- maybe Camille/Rex found his feminine side?
