  • A whine

Okay,Dh is in his first year.

DH feels he MUST do as many extracirriculars as possible because he feels like he really lost out by not doing that as an undergraduate.

So far he's volunteered to do his houses website (the students are broken up into houses for study and support purposes) and a running group, and tonite he is going to some scavenger hunt thingy.

Plus,he's worried that if he doesn't participate in the socializing he'll be less likely to be considered an active student or something.

    Whine over for now.

That's tough. I would think 1 activity - especially in his first year - would be a good way to start while he's getting his feet wet. This endeavor is a marathon, and although I'm certainly not a runner, I know you don't expend all of your energy (and family's patience) in the 1st leg.

Perhaps at the holiday break he could consider turning one of the activities over to someone else who is active in one of the groups.

    Good luck!
