  • Downloading music

I used to download music from Kazaa but it resulted in multiple crashes of my computer so pretty much I have been listening to the same old stuff for too long.

I just looked at joining Napster but it says if you cancel your membership, then all of the songs you downloaded to your PC become unplayable. Does that mean you cant download and burn them? Well isnt the point of downloading music so you can keep it?

What sites do you guys use? Do free ones exist anymore?

Ah, the glory days of Napster. We were huge fans of Napster- then Kazaa (which also totally screwed up the computer) but now, we pay to use iTunes. Since were a Mac family once again, it just seems fitting.

Love iTunes. So seductive. Like I'll buy just one song for .99. Ha. I always find a few other things I have to have ....

With iTunes, you can burn the song 10 times after you purchase. I would imagine the new legal Napster has some similar protections. They should explain it before you set up an account. Maybe they mean that if you cancel your account your online music software won't work. They can't reach out and unburn CDs if you've already burned the songs. Right? Have you burned the music you've downloaded so far? Did it work?

We did illegal Napster and Limewire until they started arresting people. Then, law-abiding girl that I am, I got scared.

I still can't pay, because I'm po. So, I use Morpheus. It isn't very good, and I have a difficult time finding what I want, but it's free and doesn't crash my computer or infect it with spyware.

        I miss Napster.
