105 degrees during the day. Mosquitos swarming when I walk outside. Try to do some yard work in long sleeves, long pants, closed toed shoes and no socks. Sustain multiple mosquito bites to the hands, ankles, face and neck. Cant go get the blower out of the shed bc it has been taken over by large roaches, like hundreds of them. Fortunately my house has been rid of them ever since last summer when one crawled over me in bed at 2am. My aversion to pesticides is less than my aversion to roaches.

Why dont i live in California?

Sounds lovely. Don't expect the "Relocate to Georgia" bureau to come knocking on your door to star in their new t.v. spots!

It was 94 in the shade in DC today. about a billion percent humidity, too. I'm ready to go back to Perm, Russia.

RE: The giant roaches. I've heard of them and know they are pretty indiginous to this area, too, but I have yet to lay eyes on one (thank goodness!). I'm ready to get the #$U% out of this area, myself!!!! When does it start to cool off around here, anyhow?!

I feel your pain!

I can't go outside without putting on bug spray. I am really susceptible to bites though. You know how some people just taste yummy to bugs? Well, I'm one of them. I can be outside here for 30 seconds and have 8 mosquito bites, and I am not exaggerating. I purchased some mosquito wipes, and I use them on my exposed skin, except my face, but I do wipe them on my neck to hopefully deter them from my face.

I also have some Avon Skin So Soft Bug Guard. I haven't really tried it yet for the mosquitoes here, as I am afraid that it won't work as well, but I have heard that it at least works decetly. I haven't wanted to take the time to rub it on.

Also, we purchased some bug free backyard. We put this on our yard last year and I think it really helped to curtail the mosquito population, though I didn't have a chance to put it on this year. It is sitting in my garage still. You might want to try that:

As for roaches, we sometimes get them in our house, but I haven't had to deal with them yet, as my dh and so have always managed to up till now. We have only had a few, and it doesn't seem to matter how spotless my house is.

It'll cool off by mid-October with a few 80 degree days until November. September is anyone's guess. I've been to weddings in October where it was 100 and weddings in October where it was 40. Welcome to the Mid-Atlantic States!!

I'm with you, too! It has started to cool off a little here so I think fall is just around the corner. Bugs love me and I get the worst reaction to mosquito bites. It usually takes about a month before the redness will go away after I get bitten. I hope you can evict those roaches out of your shed soon. Yuck!

I cannot wait till I can start going for walks in the evening and not have to worry about getting eaten alive!
