  • Is posting out of season?

I 've noticed there seems to be a lot less activity on the boards these days. I know when I moved last year, I didn't start posting again until nearly Christmas. Strange, really, because I was having a difficult time adjusting. I saw the post by Amy Denise saying that the novelty of the new place had worn off.... and that got me wondering if everyone isn't just busy in new places or new routines these days. Maybe posting falls off in the late summer and fall and picks up in the winter when we're all suck inside and settled in (more or less) to the new year. It certainly goes down on the weekend and comes back on Monday morning!

So is it just that I'm checking the boards too much - or is activity light these days?

I have noticed that posting is light but I think part of that are the topics. No offense to anyone but I'm tired of talking about politics and that seems to be the majority of the topics lately. Maybe we're all trying to enjoy the last signs of summer/fall before winter arrives.

Yeah- I've noticed that the political chatter hasn't really caught on like it used to. (Good thing, maybe - it always leads to fights these days. ) I think you may be right about the weather. It is GORGEOUS here and I certainly don't want to be inside. It's also soccer season, so I'm driving all over the region since DS is on the travel league now. Maybe posting hasn't been light - everyone's just mellow. :camp:

It's funny....the political chatter used to lead to more posting/discussions in a widespread way....sometimes we mods used to rejoice when a juicy debate started. It meant more visitors who posted a variety of interesting topics.

It does seem pretty slow around here lately....Maybe people are just busy...there are plenty of lurkers though...I've seen times where there are 9-10 people lurking and then no one says hi...

The thing is...if anyone is bored with what's being discussed, by all means...start a new, fresh topic! Don't leave it up to the rest of us!

Angie, I think your PB anti-reading campaign got things going again!

I know for me- I have had a lot going on the past week. We took a last minute trip to see my family- my brother is getting deployed with the Army to Korea for at least a year. This past weekend was the last chance to see him before he was sent off today to Missouri for who knows for how long before going on with his orders to Korea for 12 months.

I was a little stressed about the trip, but glad all in all that I saw him and spent some time before he took off. Plus, my mom despite being a Marine Corps Officer's wife for 20 years, needed the extra support. I told her when we found out he was getting sent to Korea, that it's a lot better place to be right now than Iraq.

Anyway, that's where I've been. This week isn't panning out to be any slower- Brigham started preschool, and because of his separation/social anxiety issues we are easing him into attending by himself.

Well, I'm now back at home and the school year has begun! So, I guess the short answer is I'm busy!

Seriously, I'm on the internet from time to time but I have been frequenting some homeschool messageboards as that is my primary focus right now (and the area of my life in which I need the most support ).
