  • Anesthesiology Pay in NYC

    Hi Folks,

I have a very specific question so I have a feeling I might not even get an answer here. Does anyone know what an anesthesiologist salary at Columbia Presby hospital is or might be in NYC?

If not, any specific sites I could look at?

    I know its a specific Q. but I thought I'd ask...

For residency or for an attending? I'm sure you can find out what it is for their residency program pretty easily.

The topic of anesthesia salaries in NYC comes up for discussion in our family just about every day. The range is enormous $150-$300K. Depending on whether or not you passed the boards, are willing to take call, have experience, fellowships and how much do they want you. Hospitals pay on the lower range and private groups on the higher. Manhattan unfortunately tends on average to pay less than other boroughs and suburbs. If I had to guess, I'd say Columbia attendings start around $185-200K. Hope that answers your question.

Check out gaswork.com, and you can look at various openings and see what the practice style is and what sort of compensation is offered. (ie pain pays more)

If you guys have *any* interest in upstate, please PM me! I saw on another post that you attended Cornell, we are about 30 miles from there. My DH is currently recruiting. It's a fee-for-service practice with doing 100% of your own cases. Compensation is excellent.
