  • Finally paid less than $2/gallon for gas

Sheesh. That stretch really hurt our wallets. Here is to a continued drop in prices.

Anyone have any idea if natural gas has gone up like they predicted, or if will be less severe? I am dreading heating bills this winter, and we live in the South! This is the first month I have used my heat. It's been an air in the day, heat at night month. Those are always such a PITA! I never feel like I'm trhe right temperature, and I like to be the right temperature. I have a very small comfort window in temps.

We've been right around $1.99 for a few weeks, which is a nice break.

I am so jealous! I live in the sticks and it's still $2.35.

If you go to http://www.autos.msn.com and scroll down to driving tools, there is a page for finding the lowest gas prices in your zip code. Very handy.

RE: price of natural gas. We do the equalized payment plan and ours is going up from $86 a month to $134 with the new rates suggested for next year.

(Remember we live in a 1350 town home which only has two sides facing the exterior.) I do not know what poor people in these climes are going to do.

I am jealous of all of you!!!! We are still paying close to $2.45 for regular gas here in Boise. The state attorney general is investigating for price gouging as we don't receive any gas from the Gulf States.

It will be interesting to see what happens. In the last week our prices have started dropping- they were $2.50-$2.75.

DC continues to pay the highest prices in the country- we're still at 2.5+.

                Yay!

WI always has higher prices. We're doing the price gouging investigation too.

I was happy to find $2.26 a few days ago. Prices were over $2/gallon for a while before Katrina. I hope it gets a little lower.

As to home heating...I called our gas company to do balanced billing and the monthly amount seemed so high. I'm going to go another month before signing up to see if the average goes down a little. (We had a lot of work done on the house last year that involved an open ceiling and interior walls -- lost heat). The average bill accounts for the increase in price. My ears were sort of glazing over at that point and I can't remember if she said a 15% increase in gas cost??

From my MIL's bill for heating her home in Wisconsin. This year's price per therm is $1.587 compared to last year of $1.125. (Huh, on her bill the gas supply and distribution charges sum to 1.3979, so the additional must be the other fees which I assume are also included in the prior year). That's about a 40% jump.

NYC is still at $2.5+. But we'll be going to Jersey on Thursday to fill up (it's usually 20 cents cheaper).
