        PGY= Post Graduate Year and then whatever number you happen to be suffering through. (Intern year=PGY-1, etc.)

            Actually, PGY and R do not equal the same thing. For example, DH is PGY7 but R5. (Post graduate year 7, clinical residency year 5). Most of the time PGY and R are the same, however.

            Don't forget "Q" as in the call quotient. Q2 (call every other day), q4 (every fourth night), etc.
