I'm flexible and would be up for some pampering (as long as food and alcohol will be involved at some point). We also never settled the actual day. Will this be taking place on Saturday or Sunday?

Not really. I'm at bit of a loss for both lunching and pampering. Vishenka, know any good places? I'm moderately, uh, frugal.Married to a hematopathologist seven years out of training.

For pampering I'm thinking Bloomie, it's a nail salon chain. I've only been to the one in midtown but they all seem to have decent reviews. A mani/pedi combo there is about $35 (with tax & tip). At least that's how much the midtown branch is, so I assume the other ones can't be much more. Bloomies are all over the place: Alphabet City, Chelsea, Gramercy, Midtown, etc. Do we want to do brunch or dim sum? I would say that if we decide on dim sum we should meet in Chinatown and if brunch in Chelsea.

Sounds good! I've never gotten a pedicure in winter before--can you wear shoes? Does it take a long time for the polish to dry so you can leave?Married to a hematopathologist seven years out of training.

They have disposable slipper for you to wear, while you're drying (pedi is usually done first, so that your toes can start drying sooner). Then after you dry your hand, they put saran wrap over your toes and help you put on socks and shoes. Saran wrap helps to make sure that the polish doesn't get smugged. Feels weird to walk around for a while though. Can someone pick a brunch place?

I've been to this place for dinner and it was good. Never been there for brunch, though.

Never been to this place, but it's another possibility.

Also, if everyone else is coming from uptown, I don't mind going farther north, either, if someone has a favorite spot farther up or anything.Married to a hematopathologist seven years out of training.
