What's your decorating "style"

I'd call it early-American-garage-sale-grunge-eclectic. Outside of a washer, dryer, and deep freezer, we have not bought a new piece of furniture or major household item in 7 years. Fortunately this style is very kid friendly because all of our furniture doubles as springboard platforms, obstacle courses, and fort components.
Honestly, however, I'm a commitment phobe with style so I don't what I'll do if we ever reach a different financial bracket. I have painted every single wall in my house white. I'm afraid of making a mistake. Besides, since I don't pick out furniture but receive cast offs I can be sure that white matches everything and makes selling the townhome easier. Maybe I'll have some of my classier friends help me out in this department when we're done.

I'm classic with fun/functional flare...
I like Pottery Barn -- but like to add "kid friendly" flourishes when and where I can. I can't handle white walls --- not my thing so our main room is a "Paprika" color with a neutral Khacki color trim. We have a blue bathroom...the kids rooms are kids colors with white trim and my son's room has a different color wall than the other three. The window wall is like an accent but works with his rug.
I LOVE to decorate or make a space "my own" but of course money is an issue so I really look forward to post training checks and making our new space very comfortable. I long for overstuffed leather furniture with chunky area rugs in rich - warm colors.Flynn

I'm a minimalist. I don't like any kind of clutter, figurines, adorable little ceramic animals and the like. Our stuff is comfortable, I like warm tones with lots of color on the walls. I don't like fru-fru stuff like flowers or ornate things. I like Asian inspired stuff, which I suppose I can attribute to being married to one.Awake is the new sleep!

Originally posted by JulieWe like Ikea, too. I would describe our current style as "temporary apartment/utilitarian" but when we own a place I expect it will be decorated with clean lines and neutral colors.

Yup, almost all of it is Ikea except the loveseat. We would probably have only two-by-fours and cinderblocks if it weren't for them. I love Ikea. :---Married to a hematopathologist seven years out of training.
