How many of you are members of other internet boards? I've never really visited other boards -- but I'm thinking I'm too dependant on this one . Anyway, I just went to yahoo groups to find a sahm board and saw one that said 'sahm 30 and older - a place for older moms to chat' 30 is an older mom??? I'm not gonna go to their board if they make me feel old!

    I need to find: white_girl_married_to_a_hindu_likes_to_dabble_in_c rafts,_cooking_and_writing_hates_housework_and has_limited_patience_while_she_stays_home_with_her _two_beautiful boys_who_have_only_made_it_to_their_respective_age s_because_they_truly_are beautiful.com

Is there a website like this? The url seems to still be available for purchase.

During college I was a babysitter at a MOPS program! I think it is great, though I was never really exposed to the religion side of it. I would highly recommend this to moms of tots. I haven't seen the website, but the opportunity to have someone watch your child in a safe environment is a great deal.

I am a member of a bazillion and one communities on livejournal.com. I can mostly restrain myself to the knitting and cycling communities, but when I want to waste time I have about 40-some communities just on my list that I have posting access in (there are thousands on the site, some more active than others).

        I also visit bikeforums.net and studentdoctor.net.

And I have nearly twenty Yahoo! groups on my list over there to read.

If I'm in a cross stitch phase, I find that most of the cross stitchers hang out on ezBoards, and I have about 5 boards, mostly designer-specific, that I flip through.

I've even been to the MotheringdotCommune (mothering.com) boards, though as a non-parent I'm of course a lurker there.

Um...all I can think of for now.

Don't get me started on Usenet though. I've got about 10 newsgroups that I like to read, fortunately I don't have a good reader or free feed any more...

I belong to a group of parents who all have adopted from Perm, Russia; a group of SAH Adoptive Parents, Stroller Strides/DC has a group, I go to the FRUA chat room often (Families for Russian and Ukranian Adoption), I used to belong to military long distance relationships. oh, and I belong to one for DCMetroMommies and one for Australian Cattle Dogs.

Now, not all of them have daily chats. the dog one is just a place to go if you dog has issues, etc. (like I posted there when Petey's allergies were bothering him to see if it was something that any of the other dogs had.

This is my primary and favorite group though.

This is my primary board, too.

I also belong to IndieBride, which started out as (and still is) a stellar wedding-planning board "for the independent-minded bride" but has also grown an extremely active Nothing to Do with Weddings section and now an excellent IndieMoms section, both of which I read avidly.

And I also read the pathology board on Student Doctor Network.

The two other sites that I visit regularly are ConstantChatter.com (grew out of WeddingChannel.com after most of the regulars finished with their weddings and the admins changed) and Li.ru (a Russian version of LJ.com).

Tracy, this - Atheist/Agnostic board - sounds interesting. Can you tell me more?

I used to visit other boards, home daycare boards when I did that, medical billing boards when I did that, pregnancy boards (though not this time, I'm sick of listening to people obsess over every little side effect), and I also used to post to a board called Homebodies, but I eventually realized I didn't belong there. So now, this is the only board I visit.

This is my primary visiting site followed by four sites devoted to homeschooling in MA (one in the Boston specific area, one for the state, one that is a PAC/legal resource for MA HS of sorts, and one that is a break-off of that last one because they don't believe it's doing enough). I also belong to a military homeschooling group and I visit student doctor network occasionally (although I don't really post there).

                    And, I think that's it!

BTW, I didn't know that MOPS was religiously-based.

I visit mothering.com a lot- but some of the people there are very militant about their views that I get fed up with them ie someone just told me it is documented that 95% of Ob/Gyns do not receive the MMR vaccine bc it is known to cause arthritis. I was like, yeah right show me the research study. I also visit gardenweb.com forums. I also used to go to diaperpin.com which is mostly about cloth diapering but we are almost potty trained now.

I used to be on a homeschooling messageboard that was similar to what you describe. It was all very anti-immunizations and anti-doctor/medications. I got into it with someone who started saying genetic diseases could be "cured" through diet and exercise (ummm, another Dr. Tom? ). After a while, I felt like it was a community of religious hippies. I may slightly qualify in that definition - but these were some really militant people! I just didn't fit in....

I used to haunt the democratic underground, but the people there are so extreme that every time I opened my mouth I was called a 'freeper' .....me? The liberal voice of reason, :> , a freeper on a LIBERAL website? oi.

I also used to troll about at sdn....but...I don't really anymore.

I still visit mommd because I have some friends from there...and occasionally I visit simply moms.

For the most part, I either....troll around here or distract myself from the mountains of laundry by playing with background colors, etc.
