  • Palm or PC

DH's palm just crashed I am supposedly the techie of the two of us, but that is simply from what rubs off from my super smart brother. Since all I know of medicine is what DH passes along, I don't know what to shop for.

When I asked him what everyone else uses he said, and I quote "uh...Idunno."

So just wondering, do you know what your PIC (partner in crime) uses? Does s/he like it and would s/he recommend it?

    Thank you in advance

My dh (who has 3 palms and drools over upgrading all the time) says it depends on if he wants a windows compatible OS, and what he wants to use it for. My dh has a SONY CLIE, but apparently they don't make them anymore. If he wants a Palm / Phone combo he'd suggest a Palm Trio, either model 600, 650, or 700 (700 is newest).

    Big nerd here.

I will say that as soon as he found out you guys weren't in training anymore he said "OH - then get a Blackberry 8700".

    Good luck.

edited to add: oops - you are in training. skip the blackberry.

      PalmOne Tungsten C

      Hi Caitlein,

My husband uses the PalmOne Tungsten C. He has several programs on it. He has the 5-minute Clinical Consult, Epocrates, and of course several games he never gets to use. It has a keyboard on it so its easier than using the stylus to make notes. It has a really good battery life. I hope you find something soon. I know my husband would be lost without his. Christy

My husband uses the Clie but has had problems integrating between it and the mac.

I have no idea what he'd prefer to use, since he's stuck with this one until it dies.

DF said that Blackberry may be going out of buisness because of a lawsuit. They allegedly stole their technology from a Canadian company. So I wouldn't go with a Blackberry. Also, he just got the treo (650 maybe)for xmas and he says, "It's awesome."

My husband just bought a Dell Axim X51v. He did quite a bit of research and mentioned that the Dell was ranked at the top of the other pocket pcs. In the past he has owned Palms and IPAQs. I'm not sure how difficult it is to transfer everything from a Palm OS model to a Pocket PC model, though. If you have any questions about the Dell, let me know and I'll get more info from DH.

Dh has a Dell Axim, can't remember off the top of my head which model. Anyway he LOVES it- has an MP3 player, he has medical journals, books and literature, Eprocates, and some other bells and whistles. He had a Palm but it kept crashing on him, and would break if he looked at it funny. He has had the Dell for a year now, and no problems to speak of.

DH has a pocket PC, and there is no way he would use a Palm. Seriously though, it is total personal preferece. I don't think there is a way for us to tell you the best one. Though, dh would probably say pocket PC without blinking. DH has a Toshiba, but he has had it for a while now. I don't know what he would actually recommend now. He had two IPAQs before this one. I have heard good things about the Dells.

Russ and I both have Dell Axims and I love mine. (He's not here for me to ask him about his.) I had a Palm and I like the Pocket PC better.

My biggest piece of advice regarding this is....

get way more than enough memory...seriously...get a ridiculous amount of memory...because I can ALWAYS find another program I want or need.

Thank you all for your words of wisdom.

He had a Tungsten that his transitional program provided, but when we couldn't get it to interface with our computer (rather than figure it out) he swiped my Sony Clie. The Clie died and we had to give the Tungsten back when we moved.

My brother also recommended the Axiom and I am glad to hear those that have one like it. Besides, we have a dell account, and after some research, it may be the only way we can afford a replacement :thud:
