I don't like yogurt, raisins that are in other foods, (they're fine on their own) or pears.

I also don't care for "wet" cakes or bread pudding.

I have only recently started liking nuts in cookies/brownies/quick breads.

I cannot stand coconut.....it makes me gag.

The only things that I can think of that I will not eat are walnuts and raw coconut (I love the flavor of coconut, but hate the texture). Yogurt used to totally gross me out until I started craving it when I was pregnant....now I can't get enough of it.

I don't do onion, onion powder, raw onion, cooked onion, onion cooked so much it doesn't even resemble onion (in soup). I don't do onion.

I also will pick out any color pepper (red, yellow, green)

I have never been confronted with sea urchin, but have been tricked into eel. I will never be the same. ::

            I don't eat:

            - Vegetables (with the exception of RAW spinach and fried okra )
            - Steak (with the exception of filet mignon as of our 10th wedding anniversary when I tried it for the first time)
            - Mushrooms - bleh!!
            - most fish/shellfish products (exeptions: Salmon - love it - and crab cakes - but only the crabcakes from Legal Sea Food)
            - Tomatos (but I will eat tomato sauce)
            - Peaches (in any form)
            - Veal (yuck)
            - Organ meats (double yuck)
            - Mustard, Ketchup, and Mayonnaise (triple yuck)
            - Raisins
            - Mango (bleh)

Sushi is a staple in my world...except for the urchin. Seriously, we used to go every other week or so in DC and in Texas...

It was so bad that when we returned to DC when we went to our standard sushi place our sushi chef yelled, "where you been?"

                Foods....

I'm with the anti Okra crowd, nothing makes me gag faster.
                Also Coconut in amost anything
                Anise flavoring, bleh
Bergamot, sends bad shivers down my spine
                Tree nuts in almost anything
Whiskey, urgh, (too much during high school)
Raisins in things, alone are ok
Scallops, just too slimey, like squid, or yep sea urchin
and I can't stand fruit in ice cream, something about the mixed texture

This is great, everyone is so different! I've really expanded my culinary horizons over the last five or so years. I went from being pretty picky to trying almost anything and liking most of it.

I don't like blue cheese in general. But I did have a small piece of real Roquefort over the holidays, and was pleasantly surprised.

I don't like raw tomatoes in general. But I will eat the ones we grow at home. Especially firm, sweet cherry tomatoes.

I don't like mushrooms in general. But I don't gag over them anymore, and have been choosing to put them in my dishes more and more.

Not a mayonnaise fan. That one I've actually been liking less and less over time.

I'll spit out black (licorice flavored) jellybeans regardless of what company I'm in. Ick.

Since I spent 6 months without meat, I still don't like it very much and will choose to eat little or none where possible.

(Looking back through peoples' lists) Ooh, eggs is another one. For whatever reason, I don't seem to be able to eat plain eggs unless they're scrambled.

But since meeting DH I've learned to love sushi, greens of all sorts (adore kale), brussels sprouts, shellfish, different cheeses (I was a strict cheddar, mozzarella, and Kraft Mac&cheese kid), eggplant...all sorts of stuff.

The only think that I will steer away from is cooked greens. Such as collard greens.

Other than that, I will eat anything. I will especially try anything.

Living most of my life in NY, I don't even know what okra or collard greens are. I know they're southern food but have never met them personally.

I also consider sushi a regular everyday (well may be once a week) kind of food. Is Sea Urchin the yellowish looking one? I'm not a big fan of octopus sushi. The taste is not bad but the texture makes me feel like I'm chewing on a pencil eraser. I do love octopus cooked (don't care how) though.

I really have started eating and liking a lot more foods once I started cooking them on my own and trying them in different cuisines. I used to be a lot pickier as a kid.

The idea of steering clear of certain foods is a totallly foreign concept to me. Maybe it's because I come from a family of Japanese immigrants--you eat EVERYTHING on your plate! I guess I never had the chance to develop strong opinions about food because I 'd simply leave the table hungry if I did. It wasn't worth it to dislike certain foods. Bring on the sushi, sashimi, things with eyes still looking at you and fermented anything--I love the stuff!
My uncle eats fish eyes and the inside of crab heads, so if I haven't eaten nearly everything myself, then I've seen it eaten by at least one family member!

When I spent a year in Germany in high school there were some things that just seemed strange though (maybe Kris can attest to this)--like why most everything had to be ground up and made into sausage form. Or what the purpose is of a dipping things (whole eggs, meat, veggies) into gelatin and then slicing the chunk of whatever up into thin cold cuts for sandwiches.

Popcorn, I'll occasionally eat it at the movies, but that's about it.
Mushrooms--I'm a texture person and they are too slimy.
Peanut butter and chocolate together, though I love them both separately.
Sushi (tried it 3 times, can't get over the shockingly salty seaweed part)
                          Mango

I wasn't going to post because I am in the 'I eat anything' crowd. But, actually that isn't true. Like Alison I just wasn't brought up to even consider the notion of refusing food. Dh and I used to do a lot of cooking and entertaining together before this whole medical monster of a life took over. Perhaps that will return to our lives some day. We have tried so many different foods as well as new mixes with common ingredients. We do steer clear of processed foods though. I only have one true cannot eat on my list:

                            Gefilte fish ::

I don't even know what kind of fish mix it is. But OMG it is SO gross.

Vishenka - Do you have a good way of preparing octopus? We bought some at a fish market and it turned out to be of our cooking failures.

I don't eat any fish or meat, but I can't say I don't like it - I actually love smelling it, I just don't eat it.
I'm hard pressed to think of something I don't like....
                                oh - I can't stand vinegar.
And while I love bananas, I can't stomach things made with bananas, like cake or ice cream.
And speaking of ice cream - keep raw cookie dough OUT!!!
