  • Anxious over the match

OK, so right now I'm not in medical spouse mode, but match day is tomorrow and I think the anticipation just might kill me...

Argh, someone hit fast-forward. I'm sick of me, the wife is sick of me, the dogs have moved out. Thinking about a liquid lunch to speed up the process. :christmas: + :: rolled together.

My husband went to med school in Germany and when he got his MATCH results, he had been living the in US (specifically, Chicago) for just a couple of months. We had just gotten married and the idea of a long distance marriage was looming over us... I was freaked out! He got 2 interviews in Chicago, a few in NYC, a couple in Baltimore, Univ of Miami, and Gainesville, FL. It was looking a lot like Florida (they wanted him, and he has always said that if I wasn't in the picture he would have tried to match in Gainesville). Dh ranked the Chicago programs at the top of his rank order list. We found out where he'd end up on Match Day, just the two of us, online, at home. CHICAGO! We had both gotten up at 4am and didn't know what to do to pass the time until the results would be posted.

We ended up going out to breakfast, going on a walk, and just before the results went up, started playing cards. The cards-thing really helped; it kept us sane for the minutes leading up to checking the results!

    Good luck!!!!

Normally I like to exercise for stress relief, but I feel too sick. Weird. Today I'm eating cake and watching movies.

I hope you're saving some of that cake as a "thank you for dealing with this match craziness" for your medical spouse stuck slaving away at the hospital!

Last spring, we had to open the match letter in front of a room full of people. At least we knew that we matched a few days ahead, but we still had no clue about what geograhpic location we matched to. It turned out ok.
