I get up about 6:30 to be at work by 8. My DH gets up anywhere from 4-5 depending on his schedule for the day. If he's off he sleeps until usually 9 or 10. Molly has to go out at 6:30am every morning like clockwork so she's a good alarm clock. On the weekends I get up, let her out, wait for her to come back in and then go back to bed until 8 or so. I'm sure all of this will change when we have kids.

Vishenka has the perfect hours in mind! At my job before DD was born, I would come in at 8:30 or 9. My early bird co-workers would roll their eyes and maybe say something about "bankers hours". Not that I was really paying attention to them because I was half-awake. :> But I usually stayed until 6pm and since they all left at 4:00, I got SO much done. That changed after DD and it was hard for to me to actually be productive earlier in the day.

I wake up at 6:30 and barring some major child emergency, don't get up until 7:00 and then the mad dash starts. I just need some time for my brain to get going. The kids are up by 6:30 and I just listen to make sure they are playing ok. DH gets up around 5:00 to study or run or write or whatever. As long as he doesn't wake us up, I don't care when he gets up.

I am up around 4a, hit the gym and home by 6a...usually both boys are up around 6:30-7, DW is out the door at 7a for her first patient at 7:05- and yes, she has to drive at least 20 minutes to get to work. She is NOT a morning person, never has been.

We're both night people, but really really need to change. My parents are night owl-architects who get all their creative work done at night--my dad goes to bed at 3:30-4am. I inherited this and can't go to bed before midnight. Dh follows suit and most nights we're in bed by 12:30am. We're up by 5:30 and I make him breakfast. I take another nap until 7, go for a run, shower, eat my breakfast and start my day.

Dh gets AT MOST 5 hours of sleep per night and I get 5 1/2 hours of sleep per night. On weekends we go to bed at 2 or 3 in the morning and wake up the following afternoon. Snoozing that long feels really good, but with only 2 hours of daylight left, we feel so unproductive!

Our sleep patterns really suck. This has to be unhealthy!

DH and I are night owls, but like to be most productive after getting up. I don't like to get up before 7:30. I have never been a morning person and given the chance would get up after 9am. I am especially having a hard time this winter getting up while it is still dark. I have been going to bed by 9pm because of my nausea and fatigue lately.

DH gets up with enough time to shower or get dressed in scrubs every morning and thats it. He is usually up by 7:30 and out the door by 7:45 to be to work by 8am. DH is also known to fall asleep early in the evening and be able to sleep through a tornado.

DS woke up at 6:00a on the dot, even thought we don't need to be anywhere until 12:00. DH came into the bedroom and said, "Uh, James is up. You want me to do something?" Meaning, "I want to see him before I go to work, but I don't want to be responsible for anything like diaper change or breakfast."

I think we are doomed to early mornings for a while. :thud:

I've got to go put DS down for a *morning* nap

There are only two things that can make get up at 4am - flight to an exotic destination and fire.

I heard a shriek when I read this...Oh it was me!

Unfortunately the DH Doc is a night owl and I tend to be an am person. However, since I now stay up to see him when he gets home, I have to stay in bed. It never seems quite right.

                        Matt... I'm with Vishenka.

We(kids and I) sleep in most mornings until about 10. (don't hit me please!)

DH sets his alarm for 5.30 and hits the snooze ~6 times before he gets up. Fortunately, I don't hear a thing.

How on earth do you get the kids to do that? Does your dh give him a bit of the "gas" before bed??

And if that is the case, pass the gas!

The only explanation I can come up with is genetics. I'm afraid to try for #3...what if he/she wakes up at 5am like some kids?

Though I have mentioned to DH if we ever fly with kids... :>
