I guess, really, the only solution is early morning exercise.
Doh! I missed the school part. I'm sorry. I'm sure that is a huge help. Maybe if he did something at home, he could still take her?

Depending on where you live....the days getting longer and spring weather in a few months might open up some other options.

Could he go to the gym 1-2 mornings, then go pick up your 6 yo for school, then do his regular day? If he could just schedule in 2 wo's a week for starters. It is a HARD habit to start up for sure.

My DH struggles with this all the time, and he is in the military so he has to exercise to pass the tests. He goes to work out at a gym about 2 nights a week (late) and then on Sunday morning (early). He is a weanie for running in cold weather, but he'll start running soon to get ready for the April physical fitness test the ARMY has him doing. I guess he'll have to add running in the morning...

I just spoke to DH today about exercising and he knows that early morning is the only solution. He has tried it before - go to the Y to workout and then comes home in time to take DD to school. The only downside to this is that I'd have to wake up at 6a to wake up DD and help her with her bath. Currently, DH wakes up DD and helps her with her bath. It's really not a huge deal. I usually wake up a 1/2 hour later anyway to help her get dressed while DH takes a shower.

I'm sure once it gets warmer outside, he'll start running in the morning.

Early morning exercise is definitely hard to get motivated to do as routine.
