I just read your latest entry in your blog about your DH's shaken baby case and I wanted to comiserate (sp?) with you. I've gotten to the point where I've told my Dh to not even tell me about those cases because they are just too upsetting. I feel bad for my Dh because I know these cases are upsetting to him too, but now that I've had my dd I get a heart-wrenching, stomach-punched feeling when I hear about those poor babies. Fortunately, now that he is in his final year of residency, he has not had to see any shaken baby cases recently
Your response of wanting to spend the day snuggling with your ds is exactly how I've responded. All I want to do is hold my dd - as if by holding and loving her, I could somehow prevent another baby from being hurt by (usually) dad/step-dad/boyfriend.
