  • Personal webpage

I want to set up a personal web page so our families can get updated pictures of ds without me having to constantly email pictures to everybody. Anyone have any suggestions on how to go about doing this? Our friends created a great web page with some Mac software, but we don't have a Mac. I'd love to get ideas from anyone who has done this before.

I don't do a personal webpage ... the idea that anyone could find pics of my family irks me. I upload our pics to http://www.kodakgallery.com and then email "invitations" to everyone. It's free, and v. easy -- and then if anyone wants prints they can order them w/o bugging me.

    Aren't I charitable??

I also use Walgreens.com...same as Kodak, but family can order pics on line and have them ready at their nearest Walgreens without paying shipping.

I use Blogger (http://www.blogger.com). I love it. It is very very easy to set up, and you have a lot of control over what it looks like. I also really like that its not limited to pictures. You can do it however you want, if you want only pictures, then you post only pictures, but I post text as well. It really keeps our family and friends that we don't see as often up to date. And they are able to leave comments, and thats really fun for me.

For pictures, I use Flickr.com. Basically you upload your pictures and then you can post them to your blog right from Flickr. (you can post pictures from blogger as well, but it takes forever!) Within Flickr, you can set limits as to who can see and download your pictures. You can keep them completely private and only those who you invite will be able to see them, or they can be completely public so anyone can see or download them. I have mine set so anyone can see them, but only people I give permission to can download a copy.

I think its been about a year now since I started our blog. It has worked out really well for us, and it will only be more handy now that we are moving away from our families.

Thanks for the great info, everyone. That's a good point, Jenn, about strangers having access to a personal webpage. I need to check into this more....I am soooo tired of hearing MIL complain to DH that I don't send her enough pictures. :>

I use Snapfish as well, for the same reasons that everyone else mentioned. I just upload my pictures, organize them into albums, and then share them with friends and family. They can then order whatever pictures they want, and I don't have to deal with the hassle of getting duplicates of pictures and handing them out.

On the topic of sharing photos: Is there an area on iMSN now where poeple are posting and sharing photos in a somewhat secure fashion?
