Where do you fall on the dork-o-meter?

If I'm honest, I'm not on the hip, suave side of the continuum. I regularly reference Harry Potter and this website IRL, do Soduko for fun, and refuse to wear uncomfortable shoes. Further, I'm fairly uncoordinated and often trip or run into things.

With 10 being a supergeek and 0 being super cool where are you?

    I'm probably a 5.

So many things to consider... I wear uncomfortable shoes, but not for very long. I'm a rock-and-roll/hipster/urban chick, but I've sung in a cappella groups with engineers and suburban soccer moms. My fashion age is definitely a bit younger than my chronological age, but I do wear things that my mother buys me. I vote, I recycle, I walk or ride my bike everywhere and don't own a car, but I used to and it was a Beetle (a reissued one, not a classic). I will never own a SUV, but I'll also never own a Minivan. I trip over my own feet, but have several years of various dance training under my belt. I'm an avid reader, but also watch my share of E! Channel shows.

    I'm going with a 3. Oh fine, 3½.

I would probably put myself at a 5 on the scale because I can get along with most people, geeky or ultra-cool. I always wanted to think of myself as hip, but that is looking through rose-colored glasses. I am not very outgoing so sometimes I have a hard time meeting people and coming off as entertaining. Although I have a sarcastic sense of humor, I am on the more serious, analytical side so I think I appear more geeky.

My wardrobe lacks style and I can't put together an outfit very well. That is reflected in my kids clothes sometimes with them looking unkept. I don't wear makeup usually, but I guess I can clean up ok when I have too. Right now I am wearing maternity pants that are falling down to my knees because my belly isn't big enough to fill them. I am pretty tall and clumsy despite over 10 years of gymnastics and dance. I trip a lot when I run too. I don't have a pocket protector though.

I have no idea. I've never been very good at looking at myself objectively. Somewhere between 6-8? Maybe closer to 8?

          That's the best I got.

            Dorks? Geeks? Or nerds?

I'm not nearly as geeky as I think I am, however, I'm a pretty big nerd. Always up for learning something, anything, nose in a book or figuring out a new craft or what have you. Don't dress well. Don't own nice stuff. Would rather wrassle with my dawg than go out to a club. I look much nerdier since I started wearing glasses. And as jlynnb says, though I never wear makeup on a daily basis, I clean up OK -- just don't expect me to do anything fancy with my hair!

Now, I've never known a social group I couldn't mingle with, from elementary school on up. I've never felt particularly "uncool" although I did envy the suave social butterflies in grade school and the happy go lucky hippies in college; I've also never felt uncomfortable going to a fancy dinner with my in-laws -- but oh my gosh I'll never forget the quinceñera where I wore cords, a sweater, and a pearl necklace, total grandma attire. I guess I'm a 5?

I'm a high school math teacher, which should grant me an automatic 11.
I haven't driven anything but a hatchback since 1986 (when I had a 76 mercury comet), and my wardrobe consists of blue jeans and black tees, though my work clothes haven't changed since the early 90s.

                This one goes to 11.

Well, I guess I should get some extra points for wearing glasses. But can I get a little credit in the other direction for having almost cool frames? I'm going to give myself a solid middle of the road 5. 4.5 on a good day with briefly wearing uncomfortable shoes.

Yes. Quoting Spinal Tap adds 3 points to your geek scale.

This is tricky to measure because there are so many different elements involved. Are we talking mainly social graces, clumsiness, attire/presentation, preferred activities, or intelligence.......some combo of all of them???? I am not particularly brilliant which I associate with geekiness a bit. I am mainly a nonconformist who doesn't care much about other peoples' opinions of my style or personality.....though like everyone, it is nice to be liked and appreciated. I only wear makeup to very formal occasions and when I am performing on a large stage. I am very, very short and have never really fully "fit in" with most of my peers who always thought I was much younger, growing up. I believe in comfort being my primary goal regarding all clothing and shoes and have no idea what is in style or why it matters so much to so many others. My hobbies over the years have included tons of choral singing and community theatre, juggling, stamp collecting, crossword and word searching, and needleworking. I love learning interesting stuff for the heck of it---but am far from "bookish." I do not like or feel all that comfortable at big fancy events----don't drink and am a self-conscious dancer. I'm really not cool in the big scheme of things. I am very coordinated, not clutzy at all. BUT----I can speak to anyone under any situation with confidence and pleasure. I am a very loyal and dedicated friend who can be relied upon day or night, in a pinch. I am outspoken and more of an extrovert and will not allow others to walk all over me and am more than willing to stand up for myself and speak my mind openly. I do not "look" geeky at all (whatever that means???) and spent many years as a child/teen actress getting lots of compliments on my hair, skin, and cute freckles, daily........and sometimes still do.

I have no idea what number to use to rate myself. Maybe in between 4-7, depending on who's asking and the time of day????

                          I am.......old. (Feeling it today!)

I am very much a people person, can get along with most anyone and can be somewhat of a doormat unless I see someone ELSE being treated unjustly. (God forbid I should stand up for myself!)

I don't think I wear cool clothes.....mostly Old Navy jeans (points for them being bootcut?) and t-shirt type tops. I am either too poor or too fat (or both) to wear the clothes I think are cute and hip.

I was a music ed major......that's gotta push me to the nerd side right there.....I love to read and could get very interested in gardening and cooking if I let myself.

I'm a mom of three with 40 fast approaching......I haven't worked full-time in almost 11 years......I think I passed nerd a loooong time ago and am in a whole 'nother category!

I'd say a 7.5 or an 8. I'm always trying to find "cool" ways to suggest that we pull out a board game when we have friends over. I'm much more comfortable cracking Star Wars jokes than making Sex & the City references. I listen to NPR as though my life depends on it. I think my VW Passat wagon is "cool". Oh - and I married the biggest nerd I could find.

Oh - and Ladybug ..... wowza. So far you're winning the "nerdiest" race. But she IS really, really nice!!!
