Whichever Holiday you celebrate (if at all) hope it is a good one. We do both Passover and Easter and the week has been busy but nice.

Hey Luanne, maybe you can answer this question for me. I was talking with a Jewish friend today and we were trying to figure out if Passover happened before or after the Ressurection. If it happened before, then I was wondering why Christians don't celebrate it as well??? At any rate, I'm glad you had a nice holiday, we had a nice, relaxing Easter at our house that included pizza for Easter dinner.

It happened before since it has to do with the Exodus.

Nellie's right.....Passover commemorates one of the things that happened when the Jewish people were slaves in Egypt and Moses was trying to get Pharaoh to let them go.

I don't know why christians don't celebrate that as well, or any of the other Jewish holidays that have to do with biblical/historical events. I guess because we don't have the cultural stuff to go along with it?

Anyway, I hope Easter/Passover/the weekend was a good one for all!

The churches around here almost all have seders before Easter. (Jesus' last meal was a seder)

There are so many holidays that celebrate various things in the Spring. It's a great time to be a heathen- that way I can feast with everyone!!

On a related note, has anyone read about the newly translated Gospel of Judas? Very interesting how that was not included in the "approved" version of the new testament. There's a whole lot of anti-semitism that has occurred needlessly if the Gospel is taken as what the biblical scholars say it is- that Judas was the only one Jesus trusted enough to make sure that he would turn him in.

Thanks for the info guys. It seems like we should be celebrating Passover if it happened before...
Regarding the Gospel of Judas, I have sort of been following that. I think it's very interesting. Of course, I didn't really know the story of Judas' betrayal (my church was so small that there was no Sunday school when I was a kid so I only really know the most popoular stories) so it is all news to me!

Saying that Christians should celebrate Passover would imply that Christians should observe the entire Old Testament, which is quite a burden.
Didn't somebody (Paul, Peter, somebody back then) say that the Old Testament was basically overriden by the New?
Otherwise, you'd be talking about a Saturday sabbath, observing the laws of kashrut, not charging or taking interest, not having marital relations for half the month, observing pentecost and rosh hashana and yom kippur and the feast of weeks, etc etc.
If you wanna do it, let me know, I'll send you my gefilte fish recipe (I don't eat it, I just cook it 8) )
