  • an eye roll for my salon

I love who cuts my hair. I like the woman, the environment and the price isn't bad either -- for getting a haircut in a nice place.

The thing is, when I schedule an additional service like waxing or something in the "spa" area, it gets cancelled one out of three times. Someone calls in sick, someone has a family emergency, someone quit, yadda yadda yadda. I've been going to this place for over three years and I always wonder if my appointment will actually happen.

This is unacceptable to me - especially when I made the appointment four weeks in advance and they tell me the DAY of my appointment! If I don't give them 24 hours I get charged a penalty as the customer -- that's their policy and I get that. What's the penalty for them if they cancel on me???

The girl who left the message never apologized either...she just nicely tells me what happened and says I can still get my other service. Yeah, thanks --- I want ALL the things I scheduled thank you very much!!!!

I cleared my schedule, got a babysitter, and have looked forward to this for a WHILE (if I'm honest with myself I was way too excited about today -- but I'm only a little embarassed about it....I need treats every so often and this is one that's way overdue because of some intense family time we've been having. )

Now I will have to reschedule AND get a babysitter again if I want the wax. I don't need the wax but I sure like having my brows "cleaned up" three times a year. :@ I don't do anything for me but buy nice shampoo and do this once in a while -- and I still feel a little guilty I am this miffed.

GRRR. So, I made a little bit of a stink.

We'll see what the manager says to me when I go in today. Is it too much to ask that my appointment be honored EVERY time I make one? I mean, C'MON!!!

Sorry for the stupid rant. I realize in the grander scheme of my life, if this is a big deal for me, my life must be pretty darn good. It's just the principle that really steams me! 8)

it is the principle. I agree. especially for a loyal customer who has scheduled in advance. and it's not as though EVERYONE there doesn't also know how to do waxes. Only if the mani/pedi people are certified as only mani / pedi - but all the cosmetologists know how to do it.

I am so with you! I got a recommendation for a person here and the first time I made the appt. She canceled the day before and after I made a small stink about having a babysitter, they scheduled me with someone else. She was great, but she started school and we had no compatible times, so I tried the original woman. The salon called as I was driving James to daycare. I raised holy hell...without cussing. I told them I would tell everyone I knew not to go there and hung up. She called back to tell me if I could wait 15 minutes she would come in...as If I wanted her any where near my head with permanent color and a pair of scissors!!

Totally ruined my day...because I had been looking sooooo forward to it. I was like a kid whose shiny red balloon had been popped. i scheduled with a major salon...for a bit more money, but knowledge that my appointments would be honored.

I hope you had a good appointment

I completely agree. I understand that people occasionally miss work but in the salon industry they better have a back up plan!!! The day before our wedding, DH bought be a full package massage therapy dealy. I was almost more excited about my treatment than the wedding. For weeks, I checked it off of the calendar and when I walk in that morning, I get the "Oh, we tried to call you but no one answered....your appointment has been cancelled. Would you like to reschedule?" As I held back the tears and cuss words, I said no thank you, I am getting married tomorrow and this was supposed to be my stress reliever. Thanks for nothing and I never went back. I ended up cancelling the rest of my hair wax appointments for the rest of the summer. I am still bitter about it.

Oh, that just steams me. I used to go to a spa for various services and at one point we had scheduled a bunch of us to go and have several things done at once. and of course we showed up (early) and were informed that some of the people were out that day. I basically told the woman (owner) that there were four of us who had arranged our schedules to have these services done and I didn't care how she arranged it but while we were having the services done by the people who were there, she could figure out how to take care of the other parts. We had gift certificates that were from my mom and my SIL. and when Washington Consumer Checkbook put out a request for input on local spas, I certainly let them know...
