  • Know any Fast-Tempo Music?

My running/gym playlist is pretty weak and I'm looking for some suggestions. I don't know hip-hop, but like a lot of what I hear for the purpose of shakin' my booty or running. While I love them, Cowboy Junkies, Pretenders and Morrissey just don't really get me moving.

What I like: Rihanna's "SOS", Black Eyed Peas "My Hump", Justin Timberlake's "Senorita", Kelly Clarkson's "Since U Been Gone".

What I don't like: Anything by Nelly, foul language, most country (c'ept the Chicks).

    Help!

It's funny that you mentioned this because I've been putting together my play list this week:

    Pearl Jam- EvenFlo
Tom Cochran- Life is a Highway
U2- Where the streets have no name
    Smashmouth- AllStar
    Chumbawumba- Tub Thumping
Tom Petty- Running Down a Dream
    Kool and the Gang- Celebration
    Guns and Roses- Paradise City
    Commodores- Brick House
KC & the Sunshine Band- Boogie Shoes
Queen- Another One Bites the Dust
    Republica- Ready to Go
    Earth, Wind, Fire- September
    Madonna- Borderline
Toby Keith and Willie Nelson- Whiskey for my men, Beer for my horses
    Dixie Chicks- Let it Rip
Black eyed Peas- Let's get it started
    Eminem- Lose yourself
    Sister Sledge- We are family
    Gloria Gaynor- I will survive
It's Raining Men- The weather girls

I would looooove to hear any and all suggestions.

I have to add the following great songs as not making the cut:

It's getting harder to breath- Maroon 5
      Ants Marching- Dave Mathews
Layla- Eric Clapton (This song used to be on my list but it was so looooong to run to. By the end of the sung, I was like, "Dump her and get over it." ).

Great....now I'm going to end up spending more money on itunes tonight.

What about the Ramones (I wanna be sedated)? That will get you moving. I also like old Green Day, Limp Biskit, and NiN for the repetitive driving rhythms. I lean to punk rock. The hip hop is great, but it is hard to recommend anything without any offensive language. Baby Got Back by Sir Mix-A-Lot is good for a laugh and a mood lifter mid work-out.

You can't go too upbeat, though.....I tried running to She Bang and La Vida Loca a few years back and nearly died. Of course, I'm horribly out of shape. :

Nellie Furtado has some great beats - fast but still great songs.

How about Seven Nation Army by White Stripes? Bruce Springsteen The Rising?

Beastie Boys would be good but you would have to overlook some language. Sometimes I am in a mood for it but realize I can't listen to it around my kids anymore.

I really found Shania Twain's first album Come on Over to be a great motivating CD to work out to (I know you don't like country but...).
                Dixie Chicks
Black Eyed Peas (last two albums)
Destiny's Child (bills bills, Bootylicious etc.)
C&C music factory (Gonna make you sweat)
TLC (Fanmail album...some really good pump you up songs)

                Good Luck with the mix!

I guess it is more themes -- like the song "Girls" which cracks me up but is probably hard to explain to my kids.
