Dh doesn't wear a pager so the only way I can reach him is if I call the ER. He has a direct line, but since a nurse usually answers it for him I rarely call. I think I've only called him twice in the last 4-5 years...both times were when he should have been home 3+ hours ago and I hadn't heard from him. I know all of the nurses and I'm sure they don't mind if I call, but I still feel awkward about calling. Plus, the waiting room is usually full of patients so I feel like if I call him I will just cause him to run even more behind.

I have asked him to call me whenever he is running 2+ hours late and he'll usually call unless he's with a critical patient....then I'm left to worry that he's lying in a ditch somewhere.
