How quickly does it grow back? I thought about doing one before my trip last summer but I was worried immediately afterwards I would have some sort of skin reaction, but I didn't want to do it so far out that it was growing back before I went on my trip. Would you do it a week or so before you are planning on suiting up be sufficient?

Sue, I think it depends. If I were you, I would do it shortly before leaving to make sure it lasted the whole time. I think it always looked good for at least a week and usually into a second week.

I would get some ingrown hairs but nothing like shaving. I found that if I had less irritating my skin (panties) it was better so going bare for a while might help.

Eye brows and the hairline in front of the ear (side burns?? )

I really don't have side burns but the natural hairline goes lower than I would like so off it goes. I can put my hair behind my ears and not have little pieces fall down.

I have had two bikini waxes....NOT BRAZILIAN. Holy cow. The regular ones hurt like a MF BUT that was before I had two kids over 9 pounds. Maybe my "idea" of pain is different now and the "no razor burn" is awesome.

Tara, I have given up on waxing my legs years ago. Too expensive and I hated having to grow it out to the needed length, especially in the summer. I don't remember getting itchy but I did get some ingrown hairs.

Uhhhh....maybe I am underestimating the pain of the bikini wax. Maybe I just got used to it?

For my first Brazilian, in preparation, I will do the following:

            1. Versed.
            2. EMLA Cream.
            3. Brazilian.
            4. Oxycodone.

I think that kind of prep should be standard, don't you? I don't think I would do it without all that.

Nah, cause I would make dh go with me. After all, it is mostly for his benefit, right?

As for the margarita cutting it, that better be one helluva margarita with ingredients that I listed in my previous post.

I would take a couple of asprin before the visit to the bottom barber.

It depends on how fast your hair grows. Once mine lasted a solid 3.5 weeks before I saw anything significant grow back. I also believe the possible myth that the hair grows back thinner and softer versus the growth after shaving.

So in the midst of this conversation, I told DH that our first post-fellowship luxury item will be laser hair removal...he said he could think of a few things he would rather do.

My pregnant Brazilian was out of sheer ignorance...I thought "could it really be that bad?" Besides my consciousness was so divorced from that which I hadn't seen in months.

I thought that pregnancy made it worse, but a dear friend who decided to give it a go for her honeymoon called immediately after and read me the riot act for trying to put myself into pre-term labor (even though it would only have been 36 weeks. She was joking of course, but I guess she had entered the experience on the assumption that I felt it was so horrible because of my pregnancy. She believed that compared to what I went through her's wouldn't be that bad...she cried

We both agreed that it was a once in a lifetime experience. I will go back for a bikini...I didn't think it was bad at all.

I second finding a reputable person...get your brows done a few times with them first and then give it a go, especially if you choose to brave the Brazilian. There must be a kinship with someone that is going to help groom you in that way!!

Nothing. I cannot stand having to grow body hair between waxing appointments. I used to have my eyebrows done but I find that nowadays I prefer tweezing them myself.

I have to change my original post. I broke down and got a bikini wax on vacation and although the appt wasn't really fun. I love the results. I may be doing this during bathing suit season.

I get my brows threaded once a year and then tweeze to maintain them. The threading is to have them reshaped. I don't wax there b/c I get a terrible allergic reaction.

Underarms, I use depilatory lotion when it gets very long, but otherwise, I tweeze every week to maintain.

                              Upper lip, depilatory cream.

Legs, I don't have much hair there, but of the times I want to get rid of what I have, I use depilatory cream.

Am I the only person who uses depilatory cream? Nobody has posted about using it. I also use it in the bikini area, although I take all the hair off.

I wax my own eyebrows....think i killed the pain receptors off years ago!! I get a brazilian done all the time, for myself even though SO is a million miles away! I love the result, I love the 'clean' feeling it gives me and SO loves it as well.

who said they knew a good waxer in Boston? I will be requiring services while I'm there
