  • Two weeks to go and I am freaking out

    Ok- I'll bite.

We're all sympathetic to not having something to wear. The size 0 problem? Haven't had to address that in, well...about 20 years.

How about coughing up details? Where, what time, and who are the competition? (it'll either be your mom, your FMIL or a bridesmaid...or a bitchy friend.)

Congratulations! In 2 weeks this stress (this stress) will be done & over with. Then onto more fun stressors.

What kind of dress are you looking for? I know that JCrew has some very cute and classy dresses that come in 0 and are worth their price. What is your budget? What kinds of dresses do you like?

I'm also between a size 0 and a size 2, and I had luck at Bloomingdale's on Michigan Avenue this past weekend. But I'm not sure what they have by you? I had a lot of choices there, which is rare. I would suggest you try higher end department stores (Saks Fifth Avenue, Neiman Marcus, etc.) because they might have a better chance of carrying smaller sizes and more unique pieces.

My disclosure: I never shop at this department stores, my mother insisted I needed something unique that no one else would end up wearing, so she forbid me from J.Crew, Ann Taylor, Banana Republic, etc. This is the only time I will allow myself to spend that much on a dress, but I admit I love it!

            Never been a size 0. I'm 5'9' though, so I guess that's a good thing.

Yipes, um, well, I hope you find your dress, and are you by chance going on something all-inclusive for your honeymoon? I only ask because, the food is free, you know.

Hey, while I try to lose weight, I have to try to fatten up the rest of the world.

My sister was a 0 and she shopped at The Limited and at 5-7-9. Go to the mall, any store that is built for teenagers.

The cure for not being able to find a size 0 dress is of course chocolate chip cookies...or...chocolate chip cookie dough....or you could go for the chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. :> :cook: I haven't been in a size 0 .... ever...so forgive my snarkiness. I can't even begin to offer advice on this issue beyond telling you to look for something online or at a major department store.

If you want something a bit more refined/mature than tweeny stuff, try BCBG, Max Studio. or Antrhropologie. They all have great dresses and carry smaller sizes.

Try Ann Taylor Loft. I think that I have seen zeros on their rack. However, I don't know that if it is a true zero. ATLoft definitely has some flattery sizing going on there. I know that I'm not *really* the size that I wear in their label. It makes me feel sorry for people who fall off the sizing charts on either end.

However, I think it was Erma Bombeck who opined that every woman should buy a wedding dress at least 10 sizes too big. That way we could always boast that we fit into it.

I agree with the idea to get something tailored. Just find something you like that has good proportions for you and have them fix it. It's amazing what a good tailor can do.

I know at Nordstrom if you buy something full price, alterations are free. So even if you found something you like but it was too big, I think a lot of the higher end department stores will do alterations for you complimentary. Just another idea, I'm sure you're saying, "I don't want to face that again!!!"

Are there any nice vintage shops nearby? It seems like all I ever find are things made for a size 0/2.
