  • Here's a new one......

We didn't get any mail yesterday, which NEVER happens. Today, I went to get the mail and some of it was in a plastic bag, like when it gets partially shredded or damaged in some way.......except it had been BURNED! It was a Time magazine, a couple of junk things for DH, a couple of sale circulars, and a certificate and class photo from Nathan's Kindermusik class. All of them were burned along the edges and the bag was full of the ashy stuff that had flaked off. There was also a letter in my box from the local postmaster stating that that my mail carrier's car caught on fire yesterday......it was a total loss.....and they were trying to deliver the mail they were able to salvage!

I just thought it was strange and wanted to share!

Wow. Is your mailman ok? It would stink to see your car on fire, especially one full of mail you are supposed to be delivering.

Of course, my first thought as I was reading it was that a patient (with issues) had burned your mail and put it back into your mailbox...

I'm glad you got your mail though!

It's definitely the most bizarre thing I've ever heard. I hope the mailman was ok too. How does a car catch fire except for an awful accident.

My thoughts, exactly! I can only imagine how mechanically poor some of the mail trucks are...but our government only issues the highest quality vehicle for the delivery of our mail, though, right? :!

Glad your mail carrier is ok and that you got *some* of your mail!

            That *is* odd!

I thought you were going to say that the postmaster had a change of address on file for you that wasn't in your handwriting and that someone had redirected your mail to a dummy address to steal your identity.

I'm glad my mail is not delivered by car. That's so bizzare.

Wow, that is one of the strangest things I have heard. I hope your mailperson is ok. It just shows how dedicated the USPS is since they were still able to deliver your mail...charred edges and all.

How random was that..... I would have had a million things run through my mind as to why it was burnt before I read the letter and I bet none of them would have been the car caught on fire. Hope the carrier is okay.
