    Ok ladies & gents,

I'm in need of a new digital camera. Does anyone have one of the following?

    Canon SD 700 IS
    Sony DSC-T9
    Canon PowerShot A620
    Nikon Coolpix P3

If not, what do you have and why do you like it? I'm looking for something relatively small with good megapixels. I've read all of the reviews but I would like to hear from real people.

I have the canon rebel digital and adore it. But it is NOT small - it does take amazing pictures, though.

I have a Sony DSC-W1 and I would recommend it. DH just got a new digital camera for work and he doesn't like it as much as the Sony. It is a Canon Power Shot S500 and I don't know how that compares to the other Canons on your list. His main issue is with the zoom and very close up photos. In general, he doesn't like it as well as the Sony. But I have the Sony figured out and am not about to give it up!

Mine is about 1.5 - 2 yrs old so I'm guessing the DSC would make it similar but the T9 is a newer model?

I think mine is easy to use (once figuring it out), easy to download photos, it has a good zoom (almost as good as my old Pentax), great quality photos, and a big screen on the back. I've been at a distance from the kids and used the zoom to get nice close-ups.

I received a Canon Digital Rebel for Mother's Day and it is wonderful. You've gotta love a camera that will take pictures when you tell it to. Definitely not compact, though.

I have the Canon Powershot A95. It looks like the A620, but I didn't look past that to see what features are different.

I really like mine. I wanted a camera I could set to automatically adjust everything at sometimes and allow me to adjust everything at other times. When you push the button to take the picture, it takes the picture. That was a big deal for me. DH has the Sony CyberShot, and it has a long delay, its annoying to say the least. I like that the Powershot has the flip out screen. I actually use it a ton more than I thought I would. I find I can get DD to smile more often if she can see herself. The pictures turn out great. It runs on AA batteries, which I prefer because I'm never stuck with dead camera battery now. Overall, I think it was definitely the best value at the time I bought it, a year ago.

I also have the Canon Powershot A95 and *LOVE* it.

As Shella already mentioned, it has a lot of options if you want to customize your photo to the conditions, or you can set it to just point and shoot. It also has a video function that I use a lot, surprisingly. I also really like the flip-out screen, it's been useful when I want to take a picture from a weird angle (like looking up at something) so I don't have to contort myself to do it.

I also picked it because it runs on AA batteries, I bought two sets of rechargeables and always have one set in the charger so I never run out of juice for the camera.

I would highly recommend this camera.

I have the Canon PowerShot A620 - I bought it online from Prestige Camera for only $250!!!!! It takes FABULOUS photos and the colors are pretty good too.

Here are some pictures around Richmond that I took with the Canon...
              http://www.flickr.com/photos/havesom...7594171433675/

Some great advantages of this camera:
              GREAT SHOTS (of course)
moveable flip display screen (always know what a picture of yourself will look like and protect the LCD screen when not in use.)
              7.1 megapixels
about a thousand different shooting modes (once I get more advanced, I can grow with what my camera has to offer)

I did TONS of research on digital cameras and this is my favorite!!

I have the Canon SD20...LOVE IT!!! It is tiny and takes awesome pictures. The zoom isn't great...digital, but if you don't usually use that feature anyways...I will always get a canon. Mine is a 5.0 and is fabulous. I have some pics up on http://www.myspace.com/theatredoctor

Thanks guys - I'm "trading" up from a Sony Cybershot which has a very slow shutter delay which is one thing I hate.

When we went to the wedding last weekend our friends had a Canon A620 and really liked it, I played with it a little bit - it is a nice size for portability, in a medium purse you could take it along.

I really like the Sony T9 as well because of the size. I need to go to a true camera store and play with them, its so hard to get a feel for them at Best Buy because they attach them to those huge security weights.

Thanks, keep em coming if you have anything new to add.

Hmmm, I'm thinking that DH got the wrong Canon! Though he does need a really good zoom.

Cheri, one thing I don't like about mine is the shutter delay. I notice it more than I have in the past and have attributed it abuse by little hands. Maybe it is the camera.

PS - The Canon A620 actually fits nicely into a pouchette with a small wallet, cell phone, keys, and a lip gloss. Not too shabby for going out. Anyway, I also bought a cheap slim camera that will work fine for stuffing into a small space but for anything other than going out to my friends or wearing a clutch, the Canon works great! (I usually carry such huge bags anyway! - Tonight we went to the movies and fit two 20 oz sodas, a package of Sour Patch Kids, 10 peppermint patties, and allllll my other normal crap in my purse! SO was amazed! )

We actually have a Panasonic Lumix DMC-TZ1. It is really cool. We just barely got it because our other camera broke. It is small. NOT super small like the ELF cameras, but extermely portable. It has a 10X zoom, which is awesome, and hard to come by in smaller cameras. It is 5.0 megapixels, which was good enough for us. You have to go to a bigger camera to get higher zoom and higher megapixels. It has a large LCD screen. So far it seems to take great pictures! It also has image stabilization, can take unlimited video length in TV quality and uses SD cards and has a rechargeable lithium ion battery. I was suprised how many cameras used double As!

I used a Canon A620 yesterday and really liked it. Of course, I wasn't comparing it to all the others but after using it, I can say it is a heck of a lot better than what DH has and redeemed Canon for me.

The sport shot (I think?) mode is nice, I like how the screen popped out, great picture quality. I have seen some of the photos my friend has taken and they turn out very nicely. He has a knack for photography but the camer helps. They also picked it for the upclose work (derm stuff) and are pleased in that regard. It is a little bulkier than the Elph they have but that hasn't kept them from taking it everywhere because they like it so much.

He bought it a few months ago and per his research, said it was the most....something....for the money. I can't remember!!! Argh! Megapixels?

Thanks Nellie, I'm starting to lean towards this one. I need to find it in a store and go play with it.
