I'm embarrassed to ask but it's been driving me crazy thinking about it today.
Signed up for a hotmail e-mail account the other day. I already had a work e-mail and a yahoo account. Some software glitch on a food-related site I visit required me to get another account as a workaround for their problem.
So, I got a hotmail account so that I could register properly without using my yahoo account (which has my name in it) or my work account for privacy reasons.
It was cool and easy to sign up and a found a funny name (for the hotmail account address). I was excited thinking this address I will use for other food-related stuff -- signing up for restaurant reminders, newsletters, etc. all the while thinking that my funny hotmail name would be the only thing anyone would ever see if I needed to ever send an e-mail from that account.
I sent my first e-mail to my wife to let her know I had this account as the handle is also a joke between us. So, the very first e-mail I sent to her had my freaking full name on it: My full name <funnyaddress@ >
What's the deal? Why wouldn't it just come to recipients as funnyaddress@?
I went into hotmail looked through options and help. My best guess was to change my profile with them. I took out my first and last name in the profile and then sent another mail to my yahoo account and it still shows the full name.
Oh and neither of us (my wife nor I) had entered the new address in as a contact so that isn't why the full name is showing up.
Any tips?
