  • I can't escape.....

So last night my fiance (3rd year med student) and I went out on a date. We haven't been out together in weeks. He's in his Internal Medicine rotation and working and studying like crazy so we've had no time together lately. I was so looking forward to a nice night out as a couple and not as a medical student and his fiance. We had even agreed to not talk about the hospital that much and try and just talk about life and our upcoming wedding. So we sit down to eat dinner and the first thing I hear as soon as we sit down is "Well I really like my attending do you like yours?" coming from the people sitting at the table 2 feet from us. AHHHHH. They're everywhere. It was like the med school gods were taunting me and telling me I'm in for life and I can never get away!!! The people at the table talked of nothing but med school and no matter how hard I tried I could not stop listening!!! I wanted to lean over and tell them to talk about something else. Of course my FI thought it was hilarious!! Luckily they only stayed for like 20 minutes. We had a wonderful night regardless but I just thought it was so funny!!! Oh, and my FI and I have decided that med school is wonderful because it's really made us appreciate and truelly enjoy the time we do have together. We're trying to be positive!!! Okay. I'm done....anything to not actually work at work!!!

Haha, cute story. You're right, you can't escape the medical world. My fiance and I were in Barnes and Noble last week and I overheard this guy asking an employee for the Step Up and First Aid for the USMLE Step 1. I had to snicker as I passed by carrying some residency books.
