I have read in a few posts that some people hate walmart. Why ? I mean besides the overcrowding.

Short answer... It has to do with their corporate practices and how they treat their employees.

I think corporate practices sums it up nicely. what sealed the deal for me was when they decided to NOT pay for birth control pills for their female employees and TO PAY for Viagra.

          that did it.

When they move into a neighborhood they mark their prices way down so that all their competitors in the area have to shut down because they can't compete. Then once all the competition is gone they raise their prices again. They are eliminating small businesses everywhere.

Plus they always seem to build in areas where they have to fill in wetlands or destroy nice habitat with their ridiculously big stores and miles of parking lot......I work for the state of NJ in Land Use so I've seen a lot of their applications come through. And of course they have enough money and pull to get whatever they want.

I think the tax breaks they get are nearly criminal, but the city is just as guilty for offering it. Why on earth would you offer these crazy sales tax exemptions for Wal-Mart retail jobs?

That, corporate practices, and their stuff isn't nearly as cool or good of quality as Target.

KCWife is right. We might need to move this to the debate forum.
