    I'm somewhat embarassed that I don't have more to contribute to this thread, given that I LIVE in Michigan and have lived here for most of my life. The only place I can recommend is Saugatuck, along the western coast of Michigan. It's a wonderful resort community, lots of art galleries, B&Bs (highly recommend The Victorian Inn, it's within walking distance of downtown). We love it there, DH has a dream to buy a second home there one day.
