  • Telephone civics test!

I got a call two days ago while I was fixing dinner, feeding Zoe and chasing a 1/2 naked Aidan through the house by some pollster who wanted to know my feelings/impressions/voting tendencies. I've not really been polled like this before and wanted to take part in it.

But it was some sort of CIVICS TEST! He asked me who I would vote for in the upcoming elections. Honestly, I only know candidates for 2 of the many offices that he asked about because I just haven't paid attention. I didn't want to *seem* like I didn't know so I just pretended I did and when he said "who would you vote for for governor....a, b or c" I just ....OK...I just picked one.

I know I completely demoralized the whole democratic process and don't deserve to vote this time around, but I promise that before I vote I will read up on all candidates.

I thought we were done and then he started asking me all kinds of trick questions about all of the different candidates..mixing them up...and I couldn't remember who I had picked and who I hadn't. I'm sure that I told him "oh, yes, I'll vote for candidate c". "Who do I have the worst impression of? Candidate c".

I'm sure he thought I was the biggest idiot ever....and ...I was that day!

I like the ones that have no answer like: "should we withdraw from Iraq?""Yes or No", Well, um.....how the F would you like to answer that people. I happen to think that there are some nuances to consider...

You know it's people who want to say 100% of Democrats answered "yes we should withdraw from Iraq" OR "9/10 people who responded answered 'no' when asked if we should withdraw from Iraq.

If I get someone on the telephone, I always ask more questions and they get frustrated with me. "Ma'am, your choices are always, sometimes, never." Me: "but what IS sometimes?"

Because both sides are such upstanding citizens....

I think I'm going to change the way I vote to the person who is closest in age to me. or all of the women, or all of the people with good hair.

I mean really- they're all such scum bags. (except for my Hillary, of course)

I actually got to vote for Hillary in 2002 in her state senate run. I don't think I ever mentioned that. Probably one of the only cadidates I ever voted for that won - well, and her husband.

No idea who I will vote for this year, or if I will even bother. Apathetic or pathetic?
