The cursed flashlight is coming in handy.

I hope you find it or that it jumps out the door.

We had this issue in our basement a few months ago - it drove me nuts but we finally found them!

      Happy hunting!

We had a slew of crickets in our kitchen when we kept the school frogs this summer. Apparently the frogs' dinner attempted to liberate themselves and we had this annoying chorus for a couple of months. Now I'm sure that there are only cricket carcuses behind our stove because we haven't heard the little buggers in awhile.

UGH. Crickets gross me out. I hate things that could potentially jump at you unexpectadly. Gives me the heebie-jeebies just thinking about it.

We have cats. No crickets. Sometimes, you see the cat very intently watching a corner. That's about as close as we get to insects in this house.

You could consider getting one. I only say that because our area shelters are in cat crisis now.....not taking any animals at all because they are overflowing with kittens. I'm considering getting a third. Cats are so easy compared to dogs. (Although I know you are overwhelmed with three kiddos and an intern husband! I'm just such a sucker for homeless kittens. And you have crickets. )

Dogs work too - Molly loves to "play" with crickets, flys, any bug that is in the house and moves until she kills it and then can't figure out why it won't play with her anymore!

Paris loves flies. (Obviously not spiders though. ) She'll chase the flies and keeps snapping at the air. Eventually she'll catch it but she doesn't kill it or eat it right away. She'll just hold it in her mouth and occasionally let it back out again so she can run around and catch it. She'll repeat this over and over again until it finally dies.

yeah, my dog is lovingly refered to as a carpet. we have to point out the food to him when a scrap is discovered. he also has to be told to, "go eat your dinner"
the puppy that we had...lets just stay he found so many scraps...he was on a diet at 5 months. he was a good cricket and spider hunter.

Mine actually let a BAT sleep under our bed once in Philly for the night. I had to give them a little sit down about their "around the house" responsibilities.
