  • POLL:Just for Fun

So I thought I would do a Poll (I'm on the knot.com a lot and they always have polls on there). So I'm curious to know....where does everyone currently live? What medical school/residency program did your significant other go to? What field/branch of medicine is your spouse/fiance/significant other in?

We are currently in Durham, North Carolina.

My fiance is at Duke University, we both were undergrads at the University of Tennessee.

He's just in his first year so he's not really sure what kind of doctor he wants to be. He really likes cardiology and neurology right now. I'm pretty sure he doesn't want to go into surgery but of course he isn't ruling anything out right now.

    Have a great Sunday!

    Hi Gym queen,

My SO went to Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, he did 3 years here where he did a year of medicine, a year of surgery and a year of emergency medicine as part of an emergency medicine programme and is now in his first year of Emergency Medicine Residency in Boston.

No date yet, we are thinking wither end of PGY2 and beginging of PGY3 if SO can join his holidays together for a decent honeymoon or waiting until end of residency, no major rush, we do everything backwards anyway I'm waiting for work visa/green card to move to US and depends on that too. already 6 months down the road with that and haven't got very far!

MrsB....I know how these med school fiance schedules can be! His school is very unique in that they only have ONE year of classroom work...but the first year is 11 months long!!! They started in July and end in June!! He only gets THREE weeks off for summer so we are having to schedule a wedding and honeymoon in those three weeks....oh and also trying to prepare him for rotations starting at the end of July!! Craziness.

I wish you the best.....I know things are hard!!! Hang in there. I look forward to chatting with you more!

Meant to post to your re-intro, it's good to see you back and I'm glad Duke worked out for you guys.

We're in Phoenix, where DH is PGY-1 in Emergency Medicine at Maricopa Medical Center.

(I think I was alison_in_oh last time you were here, but I'm not sure you'd remember me anyway. )

Hi there! My dh is a 4th year med student at St. Louis University - School of Medicine. Since he's chosen to do peds, he now spends most his time at Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital, though right now he's doing an externship at St. Louis Children's Hospital.

My girlfriend just started her first year in Northwestern's MD/PhD program. Right now her goal is to focus on neurology, but who knows where the next few years will take us.

                            Greetings, everyone!

Boy do the years just fly by....I remember coming on this site when my (now) fiance was just an MS2 and now here we are right smack dab in the middle of residency apps, interviews and decisions neither of us wants to make at the moment. He's just finishing up at University of Illinois School of Medicine at Rockford, about an hour outside of Chicago and we're torn between pediatric residency programs in Chicago (my hometown) and New York (his). Things are getting very tough (especially with the geographic challenges), so I have a feeling you will all be seeing quite a bit of me soon!

                              Hi All!

My DF and I are both in Chicago (well him a suburb and me in the city)

He went to Loyola for med school, did his transitional year at St. Francis in Evanston (just north of Chicago) and is now back at Loyola Med Center for his residency and will hopefully (fingers crossed) be able to stay in Chicago for his fellowship year (though thats up the road a bit)

DF is in pediatric anesthesia and LOVES it!
