  • If I won the lottery...

Ya know, the big one - say around $300 mil
I would check into the best resort/spa for 2 weeks (or more!) and invite the iMSN crew to join me - all on me of course!

    What would you do?

      1. Spring wife out of the residency lock-up and dance around her burning white coat.

      2. Arrange to have fresh Godiva delivered every evening at 7:30 pm (kid's bed time)

      3. Buy a diaper changing robot.

I'd let DH fulfil his dream of being a SAHD which also means we'd be kid free in about 2 weeks.

          If only...
          1) Immediately quit my job.
          2) Start taking better care of myself

I had a surprise $450 in my checking account this morning. I had totally forgotten that because of a snafu in the paycheck system, work still owed me that amount! My own mini-lottery, I guess.

I was thinking about buying one of those new 80GB ipods. Or a Ghurka briefcase. Or blowing it on a nice dinner tonight with dh.

If I were to buy the first two things, I would have to hide for the next week, because my mil would give me a pretty bad guilt trip.

So, I'll probably save it for a nice dinner with dh and him mom. Now that we've "got good jobs" in her eyes, she "lets" us pay for everything...

But anyway, 3 million?! I'd have to say we'd buy a place or two here! Or invest it somehow. I'm boring, I know!!!

Oh. 300 million? I read 3 million. I can't even think in those dimensions. I'm happy with $450!

First and foremost - QUIT my job!

Then I would pay off all of our debt, including the house. Help family, plan a NICE one week vacation for each of DH's quarters (he only gets one week/quarter). And yes, he would continue working, THAT is how much he loves his job. Then I would establish a foundation and spend my time being the director, reviewing applications and choosing who to give my money to.

Oh, and I would move on to IVF and do it as many times as necessary to have two children.

Of course if I won while DH was still in residency I'd have to accept the money anonymously, this town is too small and people would treat him differently. Then I'd be conservative with the money until training was over. Afterwards everyone would think we were nuts because we were spending so much, but oh well.

Also, I don't need 300 million, I'd be happy with three. I wouldn't get my foundation but would still be happy with 3.

Can you tell I've thought about this WAY too much! :!

Ha.. that would be me. After paying off debt and helping family and friends(the majority of our families have been so awesome to us that we are so indebted to them and would probably feel obligated to support them for the rest of their lives) who knows how much we be left.

I would buy new cars, nothing fancy (a honda pilot or odyssey for me) just something that doesn't need to be fixed all the time and has a nice warranty. And relish in the reality of finally not having to live off of student loans and not stressing when the financial aid check is 2 months late (thanks gradplus).

Would we really want all that money...?
I'd still have to study to get my PhD. 300 million doesn't buy a degree...

After taxes on a $300 million jackpot - if you took the cash option you're only going to end up with about $125M. Most states will allow you to accept it anonymously. Before you claim it you hire a good attorney and a good accountant!

Again...thought about this WAY too much!

125 ain't too shabby though. Yup, I'd need a good lawyer and a good attorney and a body guard. I wouldn't want to get kidnapped and held for ransom. I'm sure it happens...

                          Oh my goodness. Get creative!
Here are just some of the other things I would do with the dough:

                          Hire the following:
-Personal trainers to come to my mansion with very large fitness/yoga/pool room.
-Massage therapist - no table needed cuz I'll have one in my own spa wing.
                          -A chef!!!!!
-A NYC apartment, a house on the Cali coast somewhere fabulous, maybe a place in France, Italy or Spain.
-All of the above for my sister and her husband. They are both obese. I would buy them a house and help with their children of course. BUT they would have to sign a contract to eat healthier and exercise before they get anything! :> I'm a slave driver!!!!!!!

                            Oh I can be creative!

                            - Join the local athletic club ($$) and hire a personal trainer.
                            - Hire a personal chef or at least a personal meal planner - I like to cook, most of the time, I'm just not good at planning them.
                            - Hire one of those insane people that come to your house and pick up your dog's poo.
                            - Hire a house cleaner to clean our house once a week
                            - Hire a mommy's helper to come in once or twice week so that I can have me time (once we have kids)
                            - Buy all new furniture, including the $10K projector/theatre my DH wants
                            - New carpet
                            - Take my family (siblings, parents) on an Alaskan cruise
                            - Buy season tickets to KU football and basketball (even though we wouldn't get to use them much)
                            - Clean out my closets and hire a personal shopper

Take all the iMSNer's on a cruise - wouldn't that be fun? Of course we'd have to lose our anonymity. Ok, I'll get a life now - have a good evening everyone.
