Me too, horrible posture. I went to a PT after the dudes were born (bathing them was killing my back) and he had me do some exercises; my favorite was laying flat, knees bent, put arms on ground and bend them so armpits and elbow are at right angles (more or less.) (It's much harder to do than it sounds.) hold it for 60 seconds.

I noticed that if I do this a couple times a day for a few weeks, it seems to help my posture.

Does anyone have exercises specifically for posture? I'd love to try them.

Stack some heavy books on your head. Really, it works!

Me too! I would love to find some exercises that strengthen the muscles in my back. My mother always tells me I should stand up straight because I look even shorter than DH (he's 6'4", I'm 5'2"). I dread the back problems I'm going to have when I get pregnant.

Whenever I see a little old lady hunched over I immediately straighten up but as soon as I stop thinking about it, it goes back to "normal"

I used to sit really straight and have really great posture. I got a lot of flack about from the girls. But now after having ginormous kids in my belly, my posture is crap. I try hard when I remember, but who has time to think about posture when the kids are running amuck?

My posture is horrible and it doesn't help that I'm only 5'2". I try my best to be more aware of my posture and I correct it every so often but it doesn't last long.

I have awesome posture. Really. I was always tall growing up, and still am. My grandmother always told me to hold my head high and stand straight like the beauty that I am.

A lot of tall women hunch, and she used to point them out to me.

Yoga has helped me immensely on this. I need to keep at it though. I feel better when I sit and stand up straight so I don't know why I don't do it all the time!

There are a lot of ballerinas here. I'm a former dancer too! I have messed up feet and knees, but my posture is good and I still stand in fourth position when I'm waiting for the bus!

I have good posture. I attribute it to the same things that have already been said: I used to dance in high school and my grandmother was incessantly on my case about my posture when I was a kid. Bless her heart! I also do a lot of strength training for my abs ... can't hurt!

Bad posture here. Yoga and pilates both help when I do them.

                        lousy.

thanks - one more thing to feel badly about today.

I think I do okay with my posture. Again, years of dancing. I wasn't a ballerina, but I still stand in fourth or fifth when I'm standing around. I have had multiple people come up to me and ask if I dance because I just "look like a dancer." I say thank you and then thank God for not taking away my muscle mass just yet.

At work, my posture isn't great. My neck is a big issue, I put my head down too much. A fun exercise the Chiro suggested was to lay on your back on the bed with your head hanging well over the edge for five minutes. SO and I do this sometimes. It's really meditative.

I'm with Heidi, my grandmother used to make me sit with a book on my head through meals when we went there...yoga helps to keep it up though!
