DH has a thing for shoes. Especially Rainbow sandals which they just started selling out here last season and the selection is still scarce. They can always use ties. I usually just cook a nice dinner since we eat on a "budget" and have kids now. DH recently got his xmas present (early); an acoustic guitar. Loves it. Plays it everyday.

What about cuff links for a special occasion. Or tickets to a show/concert he'd want to go to (watch out for the dates though)
Um....how about something for him and baby to do together as a small part of his gift: ball, books, special photo holder to attach to keys and so forth, if you know something that was special to him as a kid/baby from his mom you could give him a duplicate (sock monkey, a fav book or whatnot) This could add a personal touch to whatever else you get

Oh- and the first anniversary is the "paper" anniversary so you could always 1) take him to a sporting event, the movies or a show -tickets being paper and all or 2) subscribe to some fluffy buy-type magazine that he'd nver think of but enjoy- in our house it's Beer Magazine and Draft (also a beer magazine) plus Car and Driver/Road and Track/some other one. They're light and fluffy reading that he enjoys throughout the year. Go to borders and look at the magazine selection- there's got to be something that he's interested in!
