It boggles the mind. The excitement over college sports here blows me away. I grew up in Cleveland where you'd see some OSU stuff here or there - but no landscaping rocks, cars bought b/c of the color (poor KState fans), rooms painted to match the school colors, jewelry (a big wig at KUMed has a jewel-encrusted Jayhawk broach!), flags out front, "house divided" license plate rims ... It is NUTTY here. I told DH we should get a CWRU flag to put out when everyone else has their school flags up. He said they probably don't even make a CWRU flag.

I asked for a KU flag for Christmas (and a KU running suit), I have a KU landscaping rock, both of our cars have KU plates (and mine is crimson). Molly has a KU collar. :!

It's similar to our Tech/UVa rivalry here in VA.

Paris has a Virginia collar, I have a Virginia license plate, my bulletin board at work is graced with a large blue and orange V and sabres, I have Virginia barware, coffee mugs, sweats etc, bought my little sis a UVa cheerleading outfit a couple years ago. I have paintings of the grounds hung on my walls and, of course, a keychain.

As I did meet my SO at Virginia, we share the rivalry. We had a conversation in the car yesterday along these lines:
        SO: I hate Tech-ies.
        ME: Me too.
SO: What if our kids want to go to Tech?
        ME: No.
        SO: What?
ME: I said no. Not an option. Besides, we're both smart. We couldn't possibly produce a being only capable of the Tech degree.
SO: Good point. Whew. I was going to say 'No' too.

We would have the same conversation about K-State - too funny!

We were told by our Pitt parents that we could attend any college in the universe except for WVU or Penn State.

            Bottom line.

Yeah, but a true fan won't forsake even in times of, O.K. history of, abysmal seasons. There will always be that one season where everything else is horrible, but as long as we beat ASU...sadly this year was not it, but I sustain by remembering robbing ASU of the championship bowl game, another year coming back in the last few minutes of the game (We were walking back to our car when we heard the stadium m erupting).

You are right, we can always count on basketball. I was a freshman in college the year we won the championships…it was awesome
